In an event straight out of a thriller movie, a 17-year-old girl with Asperger’s is now safe and recovering with family after she spent the last year kidnapped, being kept locked up and purposely starved to keep her bony.

Hailey Burns first met Michael Ren Wysolovski, 31, in an eating disorder chat room where he attempted to bond with the teen and ‘wormed his way into her good graces,’ according to her father Anthony.

On May 2016 – the last time Burns would be seen or heard from by her family and friends before turning up missing – Wysolovski drove near the family home in Charlotte, North Carolina, and picked her up.

Daily Mail has the details of Burn’s captivity:

The 17-year-old spent the next year locked in her captor’s home, and was told if she tried to escape, she would be arrested. She was blocked from moving round the house by a floor-to-ceiling gate, police said.

During that time, Wysolovski – who appeared to have a strange obsession with eating disorders – would restrict what Burns could eat to keep her ‘gaunt’, according to Tracie Cason, a deputy chief assistant district attorney in Gwinnett County.

Wysolovski would sometimes withhold food from Burns until she performed oral sex on him, the warrant says.

He also made her keep a diary counting the number of calories she consumed each day, and would refuse to feed her the next day if she ate over a certain amount, according to the warrant seen by the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Burns is now recovering after she was rescued by the authorities who found she was suffering from malnutrition. She has been to visit her favorite local restaurant and is making herself at home in her parents’ house.

Cops were alerted after teen began chatting with a student online who pieced together what happened and called the authorities.

Wysolovski has been arrested and locked up on felony counts of intense sodomy, child cruelty involving first-degree deprivation, interference with custody and false imprisonment. He’s looking at a long stint in prison – the maximum life sentence of life…Plus 35 more years for good measure.

He first contacted the teenage Burns online, taking advantage of her mental state, he manipulated her into a text conversation in which she reportedly called him by the name ‘daddy’, while he promised the teen that he would be her very good friend.

According to Anthony, the father of the young girl said, ‘He gradually wormed his way into her good graces. He coerced her into listening to him and not following our directions and the next thing I knew my daughter wasn’t communicating with me.’

Hailey started acting odd before she disappeared, such as ‘using a pacifier and wearing her hair in pigtails’.

Shaunna Burns, the mother of the teen, said ‘[He] got her in the car, brought her straight to his house and she pretty much had to stay there the whole time.’

Burns was able to escape her captor after she made another friend online, that would turn out to be her guardian angel – a U.S. student who was studying in Romania had cajoled information out of her, and then used that info to contact her parents.

When Burns told the student, who is now identified as Maisey Baker, that she was actually a prisoner, Baker told her to take a photo of what she saw outside her window.

Baker used that information to look up her parents and tell them what going on. Within 5 hours, the nightmare was over.
