The United States Marine Corps has pumped out it’s fair share of heroes…but have they ever pumped out a real-life Captain America, who now holds a world record in The Guinness Book of World Records? I don’t think so, but then again you can correct me if I’m wrong.
Michael Eckert is a Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps, and when he isn’t stationed overseas doing his duty for his country, the quite ripped 26-year-old from Winter Park, Florida is smashing fitness records, competing on American Ninja Warrior, and even teaching his fellow Marines how to get into shape.
Standing at little over average height for males, 5’11”, and weighing 175 lbs., Michael doesn’t even have to exhibit the unbelievable things he can do on workout equipment for it to be clear that he’s all muscle. His six-pack, chiseled back, and bulging biceps are all the evidence you need.
His Instagram videos alone have amassed him nearly 50,000 followers, and they all show Michael using equipment at the gym and at home with skillfulness.
He’s also a pro at pull-ups, something he does with seeming ease in various videos. And compared to most, it is easy for Michael, who holds the world record for doing the most (50) in 60 seconds.
‘I had inflamed tendons for a week after that one!’ he joked in a recent Reddit thread. He can also bench 275 lbs., deadlift 425 lbs., and squat 375 lbs. He is an amateur rock climber, does yoga, loves soccer, and runs three miles in 18 minutes (despite admitting he isn’t really a runner).
This week, a gif of Michael at the gym — in which he is seen doing a ‘rowing machine’ exercise without the actual machine, simply pulling himself up on a bar and moving himself back and forth — earned attention on Reddit, and thousands of people expressed their awe.
‘That guy has muscles that don’t exist,’ quipped one. ‘Muscles in places most people don’t have places,’ added another.
Several admitted to forming an instant crush, writing, ‘I want to see him shirtless’ and ‘Thanks a lot. I think I’m gay now.’
Another even uttered pure jealousy for the Marine’s girlfriend, stating that she is ‘very lucky… imagine the possibilities.’
While Michael can for sure do things most people would never, and could never do even if they attempted it, he admits that his amazing skills have made him a bit assertive at times — and that it’s definitely damaged him.
‘My over-confidence got me a broken wrist three months ago. [I was] competing my third year for Ninja Warrior and they had this local competition where I just muscled up onto the thing and fell onto the concrete from about 14 feet up. The exact wrong way to do it!’
He’s just a Marine, but he’s got the body of a Greek God!…Yeah, I’m jealous too, but I’m sure the ladies must enjoy his pics!
