Looks like former Fox News host Megyn Kelly’s recent interview with controversial Infowars founder and conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones — set to air Sunday night on Kelly’s new NBC show — is receiving significant backlash.
First, Alex Jones himself is calling for the interview not to be aired. He claimed his views on the matter have been misrepresented. He believes he was lied to by Kelly prior to the interview about what would be discussed. He claimed he was playing “devil’s advocate” for listeners who don’t buy the official story of the massacre. He was originally told the interview would focus on him, not Sandy Hook, but after initial the taping and interview, Jones realized, most of Kelly’s questions were focused directly on Sandy Hook.
In addition, it seems Jones isn’t the only one asking for the show not to air this Sunday, on Father’s Day on ‘Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly’. The Sandy Hook Promise Foundation has now rescinded, it’s invitation for Kelly to host the annual Promise Champions Gala on behalf of the gun control group.
H/T Conservative Tribune:
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly’s recent interview with controversial Infowars founder and conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones — set to air Sunday night on Kelly’s new NBC show — is receiving significant backlash.
According to The Washington Post, the interview included discussion about the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school mass shooting — which left 20 children and 6 staff members dead. Jones has raised questions in the past about whether the shooting actually took place as reported.
The interview with Jones had some accusing Kelly of legitimizing Jones’s conspiracy theory about the shooting. Kelly’s invitation to host of the annual Promise Champions Gala on behalf of the gun control group Sandy Hook Promise Foundation has now been rescinded.
For Immediate Release: SHP’s Statement on Megyn Kelly http://www.sandyhookpromise.org/sandy_hook_promise_statement_on_megyn_kelly …
“Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host,” said SHPF co-Founder and Managing Director Nicole Hockley in a statement. “It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview.”
Jones himself is also calling for the interview not to be aired. He claimed his views on the matter have been misrepresented and said he was lied to by Kelly prior to the interview about what would be discussed. He claimed he was playing “devil’s advocate” for listeners who don’t buy the official story of the massacre.
“Megyn Kelly lied to me several weeks before she came here, and she said the interview was not going to be about Sandy Hook and the mass shooting there,” Jones stated. “My listeners questioned it. … I played devil’s advocate by saying maybe none of it happened and it was all fake. The other side of me believes those parents I’ve seen on TV, and real mass shootings happen, so it probably did happen.”
POTUS’s been on & praises @RealAlexJones‘ show. He’s giving Infowars a WH press credential. Many don’t know him; our job is 2 shine a light. https://twitter.com/justincarrier/status/874083673376739329 …
Oh give a break!
It seems Megyn Kelly has forgotten her conservatives who supported her in the first place on Fox News. Or maybe she’s showing her ‘true colors’ now that she’s at NBC by saying that she should ‘shine a light’ on Alex Jones. Come on! This is absurd. This is about Megyn acting like the rest of the MSM and shoving a false narrative down our throats, spinning the story to make Alex Jones look like a ‘total’ nutjob.
I’ll admit Alex may say a few wild things, but on several occasions those so-called ‘conspiracy theories’ have actually panned out to be true down the road.
In addition, to the negative backlash that Megyn Kelly is receiving, it seems Big Banks are pulling their ads in response to Kelly’s ‘Hit Piece’ on Alex.
The Wall Street Journal reported that though the vast majority of Kelly’s advertisers have remained silent during this controversy, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. have pulled its ads from her program.
On top of that, the company even pulled all of its ads from the entirety of NBC News.
Kelly said Tuesday that she is “of course disappointed that I won’t be there to support them.”
Here’s Megyn’s full statement from Twitter:
Here is my statement regarding Sunday night’s interview:
THIS exemplifies the whole problem of the MSM and Donald Trump. The MSM is out to discredit President Trump and anyone who is not connected to the MSM and their twisted false narrative.
Even Alex Jones said, he was questioned and crossexamined as if he was a witness to a murder. His statements were not totally and accurately portrayed. Megyn Kelly, just like all the other MSM reporters focused on the topic of Sandy Hook and took Jones’ comments out of context. If she wanted to accurately report on the story, she should not have cut out the other parts of conversation that Alex also made in reference to Sandy Hook. Of course, I realize NBC is neither ‘fair’ nor ‘balanced’ and certainly there has a strong bias in their reporting when it comes to President Trump.
If Megyn thought her ratings were low, wait until Sunday. People are going to ‘tune’ this out as well. Conservatives used to respect Megyn, but not any more.
In the meantime, Alex Jones will continue to draw a viewership of 25-40 million. Sure he may report on some topics that seem to be a little outrageous every now and then, but every day that Obama was in office…more and more topics seemed to pan out to be true. Like it or not.
