There are some things that are just meant to be broken. Sometimes that even means a tradition, like hosting an Eid al-Fitr or a celebration of the end of Ramadan. A tradition that President Trump broke recently when he chose NOT to celebrate it by NOT hosting a celebration in the White House. It was a tradition for 20 years and supported by both former presidents – Clinton and Obama. Enough said.
H/T Conservative Tribune:
President Donald Trump sent countless liberals into yet another unhinged tizzy Saturday by breaking with a 20-year tradition and not hosting an Eid al-Fitr (or Iftar) dinner in celebration of the end of Ramadan.
Instead the president released a statement of solidarity via the White House.
“On behalf of the American people, Melania and I send our warm greetings to Muslims as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr …During this holiday, we are reminded of the importance of mercy, compassion, and goodwill. With Muslims around the world, the United States renews our commitment to honor these values.”
Eid al-Fitr simply refers to a “feast of breaking of the fast” celebrated by Muslims worldwide at the end of Ramadan, as noted by TheBlaze.
The tradition of hosting an Eid al-Fitr dinner reportedly began with former President Bill Clinton but ended this weekend with President Trump.
Not shockingly, liberals were aghast.
“By cancelling the White House Eid celebration, Trump insulted America’s First Amendment,” liberal Will Gore whined in an op-ed for The U.K. Independent.
What in the world does the president choosing to personally not celebrate Eid al-Fitr have to do with the First Amendment? It’s not like he forced others to also not participate.
Of course, Gore’s idiocy still paled in comparison to that of The Washington Post, which published a completely fake news story claiming that former President Thomas Jefferson held the first ever Eid al-Fitr dinner in 1805. That’s a lie.
While Jefferson did hold a dinner with a diplomatic envoy from the Bey of Tunis, it had nothing to do with Ramadan, according to Breitbart.
President Thomas Jefferson simply did not hold any Iftar dinner in the White House, nor did he intend to honor Islam that day,” the conservative news site reported. “To claim that the very first president to authorize war against Muslims would have hosted a dinner to honor Islam is an absurdity of the first order.”
But while bad, these absurd op-eds and reports from the phony liberal media were nothing compared to the animosity seen on social media:
I can explain why. Trump is a racist & he discriminates against Muslims so him not marking the end of Ramadan ? Is not s surprise https://twitter.com/mitchellreports/status/879018773927182336 …
you deny donald trump to be a racist but he just cancel the Ramadan dinner lmao y’all look so ridiculous
Of course, as a Conservative I preferred more truthful statements on Twitter:
1342 people have died in the last 29 days of
#Ramadan and you foolish fuktards are up in arms because Trump chooses to not celebrate it?
The truth is…It’s hard for some Americans to imagine that during the Obama administration, thousands of illegal terrorists came across our borders and killed innocent citizens in 16 terrorist attacks on American soil. It’s also hard for those same Americans to imagine that the former president infiltrated our White House with people from the Muslim Brotherhood. A Muslim Brotherhood whose only goal is to destroy America.
You see the truth is, President Trump was elected by the majority of Americans to ‘Make America Great Again’. If that means NOT celebrating an Eid al-Fitr dinner at the White House and breaking a 20 year tradition…so be it!
It’s pretty clear to many Americans that Obama supported the Muslim Brotherhood and its infiltration at every level of government over the past 8 years by those who saught Sharia law over the US Constitution. President Trump has long way to go to restore liberty and the US Constitution, but he’s certainly heading down the right path.
