Sheriff David Clarke is a registered Democrat and a hero among conservatives for his plain-talking ways on such issues as illegal immigration, Black Lives Matter and the Second Amendment. Clarke has always been a loyal Trump fan and supporter. He even spoke at the Republican National Convention last July, where he expressed his support for Donald Trump for President.
Sheriff Clarke has just accepted an appointment as Assistant Secretary in the Department of Homeland Security. Clarke will work in the department’s Office of Partnership and Engagement as a liaison with state, local and tribal law enforcement and governments. He will start his new position in June!
H/T Western Journalism:
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has accepted a top post in the Trump administration, he announced during a radio interview Wednesday.
“I will be leaving the position of sheriff to accept an appointment as assistant secretary in the Department of Homeland Security,” Clarke told WISN radio in Milwaukee.
“I’m both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position by [DHS Sec. John Kelly] working for the Trump administration,” he said.
Clarke, who is a registered Democrat, is none-the-less a hero with conservatives for his plain-talking ways on such issues as illegal immigration, Black Lives Matter and the Second Amendment.
The sheriff spoke at the Republican National Convention last July, where he expressed his support for Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States.
Clarke’s name was recently floated as a potential replacement for James Comey as FBI director.
The Washington Examiner is reporting that Clarke, in his new role, will oversee the office of state and local law enforcement. He was offered the position last month.
Clarke described the assignment as a “huge undertaking,” adding, “I’m almost overwhelmed just with the thought of it, but at the same time I never shy away from a challenge.”
Clarke voiced his strong backing of Trump while giving the closing address at CPAC in February.
“In President Trump, we have chosen a leader,” he said. “A leader who I expect many of you in this room well know that I both campaigned and vigorously supported for the highest office in this land.”
Addressing a National Rifle Association convention last month, the sheriff said, “We won a huge battle last November, but we did not win the war. You see, our fight for freedom continues in earnest.”
“You see, these rat bastards on the left never give up,” Clarke said. “No, I didn’t misspeak.”
Congratulations Sheriff David Clarke! We wish you the very best and know you will do a great job in the Trump Administration!
