Sunday, May 14th is Mother’s Day! It’s celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May every year in the United States. On Mother’s Day, millions of children, young and old across the nation show their appreciation by giving cards, flowers and other gifts to their moms for all that they have done and the sacrifices they have made. Mother’s Day in fact usually accounts for about a fourth of all the holiday plants and flowers sold.
As many of us reach out on Mother’s Day, may we not forget that some are not as fortunate to be with their families on Mother’s Day. Those less fortunate are the soldiers deployed in other countries, who aren’t able to be with their family or children on Mother’s Day. They are sons, daughters, fathers, husbands, sisters, brothers and even mothers.
On Friday, The President and First Lady, honored our military families and Melania shared a special message to the military mothers for their sacrifices they have made while serving our country. She wanted them to know, they are not alone and we are all very proud of them. It was very warm and touching message from the heart of one mother to the hearts of many mothers and soldiers.

Mothers, spouses and service members came to the White House on Friday for an event honoring military families. They got a message from a fellow mom.
“Mother is a title that claims your heart and changes your life forever,” first lady Melania Trump told the assembled group. “In fact, it has been said that having a child means allowing your heart to walk around outside of your body. For the mothers of someone who has or is serving our country, this must be especially true. As you all know, I, too, am a mother.”
She noted, however, the challenges she faces are far less than the daily burdens of those she addressed.
“I have no idea what kind of different challenges each of you must face as the parent of a soldier. And while you stand with many other parents, so strong and so proud, I am sure that you sometimes march on this journey alone. While your sons and daughters are away serving so selflessly, having a community share even some of that burden must make all the difference in the world,” she said.
She told the mothers she spoke to that even when they feel alone, they are not.
“I want you to know, you’re among that community today and we are all so proud to be part of it with you. I also want to say thank you for all that you do, for your selflessness and for your own sacrifice on behalf of our country,” she said.
“Let today’s celebration with this community of strong and selfless moms be a first step in building the relationships and in your knowing that my husband and I, along with the vice president and Mrs. Pence and everyone here at the White House, hold you close in our hearts and thoughts each and every day,” she said.
Melania Trump closed with a blessing.
“In closing, I want to say God bless our troops and the courageous men and women who are also your sons and daughters and God bless you, dear mothers, for all that you sacrifice so that your children may keep this country safe. Have a happy Mother’s Day on Sunday. God bless you and may God bless the United States of America,” she said.
Amen! Nicely said Melania. To those courageous men and women – who defend our country and our freedom every day – God Bless our troops!
On Mother’s Day, we send a special blessing to those soldiers who can’t be home with their families and loved ones, especially the moms. Thank you for your enduring support to keep our country safe. Even though you are not with your families or loved ones, you are still in our hearts and prayers every day, especially on Mother’s Day.
Wishing all Moms a very happy Mother’s Day!
