Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is certainly keeping busy these days after only being in office for just a little over a month. Tillerson has already traveled to Germany for a meeting with the Group of 20 and to Mexico. This week he’s in Japan before heading off to meetings in South Korea and China. In addition, Tillerson will have his hands full, with the soon to be released preliminary budget which is said to have major funding cuts to the UN.
In addition, Secretary of State Tillerson received a recent letter from several Conservative Senators requesting him to investigate Obama’s interference in foreign elections. If you ask me, it’s not a question of IF Obama interferred, as much as a question of how many times did he interfere and much of our tax dollars were used to do it.
H/T Western Journalism:
Six high ranking Republican senators set a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson imploring him to investigate the Obama administration’s efforts to meddle in foreign elections.
According to the letter, taxpayer dollars awarded to entities such as George Soros’ Open Society Foundations were used to “push a progressive agenda and invigorate the political left” in foreign countries.
The letter was signed by Republican senators Mike Lee, Ariz., UT, Jim Inhofe, OK., Thomas Tillis, N.C., Ted Cruz, TX, David Perdue, GA., and Bill Cassidy, LA.
The senators called into question USAID funds that were allocated to the U.S. Mission in Macedonia, which has been entrenched in building a coalition government since the conclusion of its December 2016 elections.
“Unfortunately, we have received credible reports that, over the past few years, the U.S. Mission there has actively intervened in the party politics of Macedonia, as well as in the shaping of its media environment and civil society, often favoring left-leaning political groups over others,” the letter states.
“We find these reports discouraging and, if true, highly problematic,” the senators added.
The senators claim that the use of taxpayer dollars to influence foreign elections is not limited to Macedonia.
“Respected leaders from Albania have made similar claims of US diplomats and Soros-backed organizations pushing for certain political outcomes in their country,” the letter continues.
Using funds awarded from USAID, George Soros’ Foundations Open Society created a controversial Strategy Document for Albanian Judicial Reform. Albanian leaders allege that the reforms are “ultimately aimed to give the Prime Minister and left-of-center government full control over judiciary powers.”
The letter alleges that this kind of behavior “seems to have become a default for many of our embassies, AID missions, and diplomatic outposts throughout the world.”
“Time and time again, foreign leaders visiting Washington have expressed concerns to us about how American taxpayer funds are being used counterproductively in their respective countries,” the senators claim.
They are wary that the use of taxpayer funds to intervene in foreign elections has “the potential to harm our relationship with the citizens of recipient countries.”
The Republican lawmakers are calling on the new secretary of state to use his authority “to investigate all funds associated” with USAID groups allegedly interfering in foreign elections.
AMEN! AMEN! Like I always say….FOLLOW THE MONEY!
Without much digging, I’m sure Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would find enough evidence pointing to Obama funneling US taxpayers’ money to many of George Soros’ organizations including Open Society, One Voice, or….?
Tillerson could first look into how Obama tried to unseat Benjamin Netanyahu in the 2015 elections. Maybe even start with Michael Ratney, former US Consel to Jerusalem, as he pulled off a “Hillary” and deleted emails instead of archiving his records. We all know Obama sent taxpayer funds to Israeli organizations that opposed Prime Minister Netanyahu, it’s just a matter of how much and which Soros’ organization or backed party the funds went to.
Even the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations found that the State Department and a group called One Voice coordinated political activities — including the building of a voter database, the training of activists, and the hiring of a political consulting firm tied to President Obama himself.
In addition, who could forget the vote on Brexit, when President Obama told British voters that they better not vote for Brexit — the public vote for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union (EU) — or they would find themselves “at the back of the queue [line]” in getting any sort of trade deal with the United States.
Those are just a couple recent elections that most Americans are well aware that Obama interferred in. I’m sure if Conservative Senators like Mike Lee, Thom Tillis, Ted Cruz, James Inhofe, and others say there are more….there are more.
Of course, let’s not kid ourselves…both Republicans and Democrats have a history of interferring in elections, especially when it comes to foreign elections. Don’t believe me? Google Don Levin. Don Levin of Carnegie Mellon University has documented 81 times the United States has attempted to influence presidential elections in other countries between 1946 and 2000.
