Liberal Host Bill Maher Just Defended Republicans Who Use The Term Radical Islam

Noted liberal political commentator Bill Maher of HBO’s “Real Time” clashed with various panelists on his guest show this past Friday when they got into a heated discussion about the terrorist attack in London, England that took place this week. The Islamic State has taken credit for the attack. Republicans will be happy to see even a liberal defending their use of the words radical Islamic terrorism.

Panelist Louise Mensch whose a former British MP chastised British so called partisans for blaming the attack on the increasing level of Muslim refugees and immigrants into their country. Her argument was basically that the attack had nothing to do with Islam. However, Maher called her on her nonsense saying,

Let’s not pretend that [the attack]has nothing to do with Islam, the religion.”

In retaliation she compared the London attack to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing by Timothy McVeigh. She argued that the London attack had as much to do with Islam as the Oklahoma attack had to do with Roman Catholicism and that pissed Maher off. He called her ridiculous explanation a false equivalency saying,

Every time some bomb goes off, before it goes off, somebody yells ‘Allahu Akbar. I never heard anyone go ‘Merry Christmas, this one’s for the flying nun. Are there Christian terrorist armies like ISIS.”

MSNBC host Chris Hayes tried saying the Irish IRA which battled Great Britain was classified as a terrorist organization by the British. But Maher shot that nonsense down saying,.

Are there Christian terrorist armies like ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab. Are there armies like that in the world that aren’t Muslim “Let’s not f**k around with this anymore. Can we please get real.”

One panelist just stuttered while the others remained silent. They had no response. Because Maher is right and their is no excuse for rationalizing not calling this terrorism out for what it is. Radical Islamic terrorists may distort their faith but they are nonetheless Muslims. Not calling them what they are is a detriment to the fight against evil. If you can’t even name your enemy why would you be able to defeat them.

Good for Maher. Liberals won’t like it. But Republicans will enjoy the backup from a liberal who sees reason.
