When the executive order disallowing immigration from seven countries for three months was passed diplomatic emissaries banned together and threatened to not endorse the order and expressed their fervent disagreement. Now another employee of the federal government is threatening not to protect and defend the President. A Sexert Servixe agent publically denounced the President and it will cost her everything.
A senior level Secret Service agent has been posting anti Donald Trump messages via social media for the past several months. In one instance she refused to take a bullet for the commander in chief. She went on to explain how she felt he was a disaster for women and this country.
She is none other than senior special agent Kerry O’Grady. She works for the Secret Service in their Denver, Colorado division. As a result of her public displays against the President she is sworn to protect she has been suspended by the Secret Service with pay.
Back in October she made Facebook statements where she insisted she was voting for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Now that she has lost she struggles “not to violate the Hatch Act.” The Hatch Act is a federally mandated law that prohibits employees of the federal government from partaking in certain types of political activity and discourse. She said,
“As a public servant for nearly 23 years, I struggle not to violate the Hatch Act. So I keep quiet and skirt the median. To do otherwise can be a criminal offense for those in my position. Despite the fact that I am expected to take a bullet for both sides. But this world has changed and I have changed. And I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here. Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her.”
The duration of her suspension is unknown and the outcome once the investigation is finished is unknown as well. However, in this case their really is not that much sympathy for her. She knew what she was getting into when she chose to work for the federal government. It is similar to the military in that regard. You do not have the right to speak out in ways that common people do.
If she was not prepared to restrain herself in that way she should never have gotten into the line of work she did. Secret Service members protect all those under their care whether they like them or support them or hate them. They don’t have a choice. It is time she gets with the program.
