WOW. I’m embarrassed and I wasn’t even the one on stage! Does anyone else think 2016 just murdered Mariah Carey as the grand finale?
This 46-year-old diva arrived at the event with her boyfriend in tow and backup dancer just for good measure.
She was ready to go with the world at her feet as her 33-year-old beau, Bryan Tanaka, carried Carey to the stage with the help of a friend.
Sadly, no amount of money or men could help her through this epic disaster many called a “performance.”
About 20 minutes before the famed ball dropped in Times Square the superstar singer had a tantrum on stage as the song called “Emotions” played.
It appears that Mariah could keep her emotions or her sound in check, as she proceeded to stomp around the stage like a petulant child because in her words:
“‘We didn’t have a [sound]check for this song… we’re missing some of the vocals, but it is what it is. I’m just going to let the audience sing. We didn’t have a soundcheck for this New Year’s baby, it is what it is.”
Then she ordered: “Get these monitors on please.”
Mariah briefly attempted to dance, but quickly gave that up, and decided to have her dancers try a lift they had planned.
“I wanted a holiday too, can’t I just have one,” whined the $520 millionaire after the first song ended.
Unfortunately for her, things didn’t get a whole lot better when the second song, “We Belong Together,” played.
Carey started out lip syncing to the music but then continued her tantrum as she stomped around the stage and moved the microphone away from her mouth as her voice continued to boom over the speakers making it known that she wasn’t singing live.
She ended the performance being surrounded by feathers as she sarcastically declared “it just don’t get any better.
Hours later she posted to social media that “s**t happens” with seemingly little care that she made a fool out of herself in front of millions of viewers..
Shit happens 😩 Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!🎉 Here’s to making more headlines in 2017 😂 pic.twitter.com/0Td8se57jr

Social media users lambasted Carey.
Singer Josh Groban joined in the fun too, but later deleted his tweet that read “Any time one of the greatest voices of my generation lip syncs an angel loses its wings.”
Honestly, he was kind compared to others who mocked the superstar.

Well, I’d say that Ashley Simpson can rest easy now…. Mariah Carey just outdid her on the worst lip sync disaster!
