Madonna has been in HOT water since she stated she felt like blowing up the White House during the Women’s March on Washington.
Madonna has now been banned from the radio station HITS 105 in Texarkana, Texas.
The station said her songs would be removed from the station “indefinitely.”
The General Manager of HITS 105, Terry Thomas, states that “banning all Madonna songs at HITS 105 is not a matter of politics, it’s a matter of patriotism. It just feels wrong to us to be playing Madonna songs and paying her royalties when the artist has shown un-American sentiments. If all stations playing Madonna took their lead from us, that would send a powerful economic message to Madonna.”
Madonna spoke at the Women’s March Saturday, repeatedly using foul language in addition to making her comment about the White House.
“Yes, I am outraged! Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything.” the singer said.
Her comments have provoked many to call for her arrest.
Below is the video of Madonna’s speech. (Warning: Video contains foul language.)
Disagreement and partisan politics make up a healthy tradition in our country. The First Amendment was written to foster such conversation.
I would stand by her until death to fight for her right to say what she feels, even if it is foul and wrong.
But threats are not always covered. The Secret Service is required to investigate even threats that are made as jokes. This was definitely not intended as a joke. While I seriously doubt that she would actually follow through with her thoughts, taxpayer monies will be wasted as it is investigated and resources wasted on such nonsense.
She seems to be missing that little piece in her brains that says, “not a good idea”.
The First Amendment provides freedom of speech, but our brain is supposed to keep our mouths in check.
