Fickle celebrities are drowning in their tears as we move into the New Year and the new administration in Washington, DC. They’ve been rushing in front of cameras to refuse to perform at Donald Trump’s inaugural on January 20th.
It seems that every celebrity who gets any publicity relating to performing at the inaugural becomes the subject of a hate fest on social media.
One 16-year-old celebrity has no problem standing up to the haters, Jackie Evancho, the 2010 runner-up in “America’s Got Talent”will be singing the National Anthem. If you’re not familiar with her, here she is singing at Rockefeller Center Christmas.
Jackie reported that since she agreed to sing the National Anthem she’s been the target of a hate fest. “My family is kind of a big target. I have a transgender sister and so a lot of hate goes toward us. But I also get a lot love. So, we pay attention to that. Sometimes we get really annoyed with the hate, everyone does, we have to admit it, but we just ignore it.”
Not only has Jackie been getting love on social media, but her record sales have skyrocketed.
According to TMZ, her album sales have quadrupled since the announcement that she was performing at the inauguration. Two of her albums, “Dream with Me” and “O Holy Night,” are sitting at number two on Billboard’s charts.
Jackie won’t be alone, in addition to her performance the Radio City Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir are also scheduled to perform.
Personally, I’m glad that the “entertainment community” is boycotting Donald Trump’s inauguration. From what I’ve seen of the people who are the most outspoken, they don’t represent America or American values and should have no place at a presidential inauguration. The idea of them sitting at home crying over Trump’s inauguration just makes the day better.
January 20th can’t come quick enough.
