During the past year the size of the active force has been reduced by 16,548 soldiers, the rough equivalent of three brigades.
Endstrength for March was 479,172 soldiers, which is 154 fewer troopers than were on active duty when the Army halted the post-Cold War drawdown in 1999 with 479,424 soldiers, the smallest force since 1940, when the active component numbered 269,023 soldiers.
Barring unexpected delays, the Army is well-positioned to achieve, or exceed, its budgeted end-strength of 475,000 soldiers by Sept. 30, the end of fiscal 2016.
An army of more than 400,000 may sound big to some, but to have the US Army at the smallest level since WWII, especially at a time when the world is becoming more unstable is just setting our country up for failure.
That might be fine, if we weren’t still fighting ISIS, radical Islamic terrorism, and allowing millions of illegal immigrants into our country. In addition, we have a Commander in Chief who allows Putin to play “in your face” with Russian jets flying over our US Navy ships. Oh, and let’s not forget the Chinese who have operated ships 12 miles off the coast of Alaska on multiple occasions. The whole world – including Russia and China, know how weak Obama has made our military.
If world peace prevails for the next decade, consider it luck, but if a major global war involving the United States erupts, we will end up being woefully unprepared for it. Obama has set our country up for failure, but that was his plan from the beginning – to decimate our military. But what else did you expect from a president who’s name is Barack Hussein Obama?
God Bless our Troops and God Bless America! January 2017 can’t come fast enough!
Meanwhile, the size of the US Air Force is being reduced as well.
