Mom’s Viral Photo Shows How Much Exercise Can Affect Pregnancy

Exercise and nutrition definitely matter. If you don’t believe me, at least take the advice of Sophie Guidolin who gave birth to twins and even AFTER delivery was STILL in awesome shape.

Sophie Guidolin is a 27-year-old fitness model and current mom of four.  Sophie tells quite an interesting story of how she changed her “lifestyle” after becoming unhappy and overweight from her first two pregnancies and became empowered with exercise and eating clean.

Posting side-by-side photos of her first pregnancy and her third pregnancy, the difference is clear. Guidolin is even carrying twins in the second photo and still her bump is much smaller than her first pregnancy.


The fit mom credits the difference to her focus on nutrition and exercise while carrying the twins. Guidolin lived a very different lifestyle when she had her first two boys who are now 8 and 7 years old.

She gained only 37 lbs with the twins, while her first pregnancy she’d gained 62 lbs.

Here’s Sophie’s story from her blog:

My first step in the right direction was to start exercising, however I was intimidated at the gym. I was nervous that I didn’t know how to use the weight equipment properly, so I avoided weights completely. I also believed in the common myth that doing weight training would make me ‘bulky’. Eventually, after not getting the results I was after, I started my journey on weight training and I was hooked- I wanted to make this my life!

The rush that I got from weight training was something I had never experienced from anything else. Combining weight training with cardio saw my body change, but it still wasn’t the results I was hoping for.

So my ‘diet’ was closely examined and I then quickly started following a clean eating diet.

The word ‘diet’ really scared me. My initial thought was that I would need to restrict my eating, be hungry all the time or put my body through unhealthy ‘fads’- which is not my idea of fun! The term ‘diet’ is just a word used to describe what you eat.

Once I changed my diet, my body changed dramatically! I learned the benefits of eating the right foods, when to eat them and how to cook them. It was almost instantly that my body started changing once I initiated the lifestyle changes I mentioned:

  • Diet
  • Weight training
  • Cardio

Within 3 weeks I noticed a difference, within 6 weeks my friends and family noticed and within 12 weeks, the world started to notice.

Sophie went on to compete in the 2012 INBA Sportsmodel competition, taking 1st place. Since then she has won 4 national fitness titles, taken 2nd place in the IFBB Bikini Pro Qualifier and even competed for a world title.

Sophie is a busy mother of four, works full-time and still runs the household. One of her favorite quotes:  “today’s preparation equals tomorrows success”.

As I mentioned earlier, Sophie was pregnant with twins. She gave birth to beautiful twin girls – Evie and Aria.



Sophie is living proof that no matter who you are or what your circumstances are, you can achieve anything…with the right mindset and “lifestyle” of clean eating and exercise.

As she states “I’m not promising it will be easy, but I promise it will be worth it!”
