You have to love patriotism and anyone who has served in the military and defended our freedom, but I especially love retired U.S. Army Col. Allen B. West. He is not only a gentleman, but he’s straight up and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. He certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to sharing how much harm Obama has caused our military.
“After serving 22 years in the U.S. Army, it is time I make this formal admission. It is maritime power — a strong navy — not an army — by which a nation extends and projects its power,” he wrote Monday.
West’s comments come on the heels of the Navy’s own report about ship readiness, recently submitted to the Government Accountability Office and to congressional committees.
West blamed the sitting president for the fact that the U.S. naval fleet is in a state of disrepair. “Perhaps someone needs to send this current Obama administration to the U.S. Naval War College up in Newport Rhode Island because they just don’t get it,” he wrote.
According to the report’s summary, in part because of lengthy ship deployments over the last decade, needed repairs have not been completed in a timely manner. As a result, the Navy in 2014 created the Optimized Fleet Response Plan. The latest OFRP report states that ship maintenance data from 2011 to 2015 were analyzed, in addition to data from public and Naval shipyards, and interviews with Navy personnel as well as civilian shipyard officials were conducted. The OFRP summarized a variety of problems affecting the deployability of the naval fleet.
The report states “only a small portion of the fleet” is getting the required scheduled maintenance. The first three aircraft carriers are behind schedule, and “of the 83 cruisers and destroyers, only 15” have completed the maintenance necessary to meet the requirements of the chief of naval operations. The report blames public and private shipyards for not being able to meet the repair needs of the fleet, citing “workforce inexperience” as a contributing factor.
WOW! Isn’t that just great? Not only has Obama reduced the size of our military by over half, but the remaining state of our military isn’t even ready for battle.
Just in the last year, we’ve had to witness the Chinese ships taunting us off our coast, the Russian planes buzzing our US Navy Destroyer, and kneeling sailors captured by the Iranians at gunpoint. You would think that would be enough humiliation of our military for one year, but I’m sure there will be more to come before the year has ended with Obama as our Clown-in-Chief.
Let’s hope ISIS, China and Russia hold off until we get a real leader elected as president that will return our military motto to “peace through strength”. Until then, let’s all do a lot of praying that the United States doesn’t go to war and have to use our Navy battleships, because obviously Obama believes a state of “optimized fleet response” should be good enough for America.
West wrote, “I would think no U.S. president would want such abhorrent conditions to have occurred on their watch — then again, these are not normal times and this is not a normal presidency.”
You’ve got that right, Colonel West! Thank you for serving and God Bless America!
