Are We Ridiculous Yet? University Bans Golf Team From Trump Course
Barry University has one of the top college golf teams in the country. They won the national championship in 2007, 2013, and 2014.
As a community service the Trump National Doral golf course, which happens to be owned by the Trump Organization, has allowed the men’s golf team to practice at the course free of charge.
The executive committee at Barry University has decided that Donald Trump’s rhetoric on the campaign trail is on a collision course with Barry University’s commitment to social justice.
The President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs, Sara Herald had this to say:
“As a practice, Barry University does not engage in business relationships where senior leadership of a company takes a public position, or the company’s guiding principles are, antithetical to the university’s core commitments of Inclusive Community and/or Social Justice. This practice, which has been in place for some time, is not political, as we do not take positions relative to candidates. We seek only to ensure fulfillment of our values through our institutional business related ventures and expenditures.”
The Trump campaign and the Trump Organization have had no comment. They may not have even noticed. On the other hand, the Barry University golf team certainly has.
Instead of practicing free of charge at Trump Doral, one of the top courses in the nation, they’re now practicing at local public courses. And paying for it on a daily basis. The university hasn’t increased the golf team’s budget so needless to say they’re scrunched. It will also affect their play because public courses are not the same quality golf as Doral.
The ban also means that golf coaches can’t represent Barry University at the annual junior golf tournament held at the course. Some of the best young prospects in the world play there every year. The coaches attended in December but couldn’t be identified as Barry University golf coaches. That made recruiting very difficult.
To put this in perspective the administration at Barry University have no problem tolerating an Islamic State club on their campus, and their campus is open to illegal aliens. The president of Barry University invited an imam to campus in 2014 as part of an “interfaith” prayer service held on September 11. The imam led students in a chant of “Allah Akbar.”
That’s just the tip of the iceberg but you get the idea.
That’s also the general position taken at just about every university in the U. S. Islamic State = Good. Donald Trump = Bad. Note that “bad” is not confined to Donald Trump. They lump Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, and anyone who doesn’t toe the far left progressive line into “bad.”
If you live off campus you’d be paying about $50,000 per year to be exposed to this drivel. Welcome to University life.
