Principal Pam Edge paddled a 5-year-old Georgia boy after telling his mother he would be suspended if she didn’t approve the spanking.
Pam Edge can be heard in the second video telling the mom “Don’t love on the boy” afterward!
Mom was fearful of going back to jail for truancy charges if the boy was suspended, as she had already been to jail for him missing 18 days!
District officials are investigating the incident, stating the district’s code of conduct allows corporal punishment as one of the consequences for behavior, with parental consent.
The mother, Shana Perez, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her son, a student at Jasper County Primary School, was being disciplined for spitting on a student after he tried to hit a different student.
Perez also told the AJC she pretended to text on her cell phone but was recording video.
I do not take issue with paddling a child.
I do not take issue with a school paddling a child, with parental consent.
I take issue with a school forcing in any way for a parent to give that consent!
I take issue with putting parents in jail for truancy! (Of course that is a state level issue and another day)
I take HUGE issue with a teacher or principal like Pam Edge telling a parent “not to love on the child” after the punishment!!
Pam Edge, is a moron! How dare she in the first place… She had ABSOLUTELY no right!
But it is TEXTBOOK!!!
Let me explain Pam Edge!
Step one: Discipline.
Step two: You pick your child up, set them on your lap, hug them, explain why you punished them, and tell them how much you love them!
If you do not do the second step, the first step is worthless!!!
I am going to repeat that:
If you do not do the second step, Principal Pam Edge, the first step is worthless!!!
Here we go again!
The only way to stop the overreach into parental sovereignty is by letting the school and district know it is unacceptable.
