ObamaCare is Actually GREAT For SOME People!

ObamaCare is a disaster for most Americans.

Of course we all remember the great words of Obama: “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”

No matter what? Really? Has ANYONE kept their doctor? Certainly not me! How about you?

If you remember, the President also promised that your health insurance premiums would drop by $2,500 per year.

How’s that working out for you?  Barack knew that was a flat out lie when he repeatedly said it and no one in the media has bothered to hold him accountable other than getting the lie of the year award from a blogger.  Not only did your premiums not go down, they’ve skyrocketed.

Obamacare premium costs will soar 20.3 percent on average in 2016 instead of the 7.5 percent increase claimed by federal officials, according to an analysis by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

On average, some of us will be paying even more.  And yet Democrats still stand by the President’s signature failure that was supported by every Democrat and no Republicans.  After all, we had to pass it to find out what’s in it.  We’ll we’re finding out and we don’t like it.

Well, actually, some of us do like it.  Who?  Hillary Clinton’s buddies in Big Pharma.  So far in this election cycle she’s raked in almost $350,000 in donations from them.  Jeb! was next with about $110,000.  They’ve bought Donald Trump too, for the princely sum of $1,010.  And no, I didn’t forget any zeros.  $1,010.

Big Pharma not only loves Hillary, they love ObamaCare.

Prices for four of the nation’s top 10 drugs increased more than 100 percent since 2011, Reuters found. Six others went up more than 50 percent. Together, the price increases on drugs for arthritis, high cholesterol, asthma and other common problems added billions in costs for consumers, employers and government health programs.

Big Pharma is raking it in.  Sales for the top 10 drugs went up 44 percent to $54 million in 2014, from 2011.  You probably think that’s because we’re getting older and need more drugs.  You’d be wrong.  Prescriptions for the medications dropped 22 percent.

Turing Pharmaceuticals are the poster boys for price increases.  They make a drug that fights a rare infection and just a couple of years ago it sold for about $7 per pill.  Today it’s over $1,000.  About the same amount of money Big Pharma gave Donald Trump.  For one pill.  They’ve estimated that will have a $200 million positive impact on their bottom line.

Why are drug prices going up like a 4th of July bottle rocket?  Because they can.  The Democratic Party is bought and paid for.  Corporate donations are evil you know, unless they go to Democrats.  Hillary Clinton has gotten over one-third of all Big Pharma donations and she’s at the top of the heap for health care companies in general as well.

Another impact on U.S. drug prices is socialism in Canada and Europe.  They’ve capped the price they will pay for a drug so typically R&D costs are passed onto U.S. patients.  Bernie Sanders insists that the way to fix the “problem” is to cap U.S. drug prices too.  That will bring down the cost of drugs, but it will also pretty well grind new drug development to a halt.

There is a solution, but it’s one the Democrats, the Republican Establishment – note who got the second most money from Big Pharma – and the trial lawyers will all hate.  Work on the drug testing and approval and cap legal fees.  If a drug is approved by the FDA the manufacturer should not be libel for unlimited damages, absent negligence or fraud, for problems with their products.  That is one big driver of drug cost.  Another is advertising.  Why is Big Pharma advertising prescription drugs on TV and in every magazine?  So patients will pressure their doctors, that’s why.

There are lots of things that can be done to control the cost of prescription drugs, but as long as ObamaCare is in place and the political establishments of both parties are making the rules you can expect the costs to go nowhere but up.

By the way, remember those who helped pass the law, Congress…well, you guessed it, they are exempt from the law. Obama care? Not really. Affordable care? Not at all!
