The internet’s favorite ‘grandpaw’ who was left sad and lonely after only one of his six grandchildren turned up for a family dinner, is hosting a cook-out – and everyone is invited.
Kenneth Harmon sent social media into a spin last week after his granddaughter revealed her ‘Papaw’ had cooked up a feast for all six of his grandchildren, only for all but one to reject his dinner invitation.
Within days he became the most loved grandfather on the planet and his grandaughter Kelsey Harmon’s original post has now been re-tweeted more than 170, 000 times and liked 280, 000 times.
She described the madness: ‘Guys I’m sorry if I don’t tweet back I’m literally getting 20+ notifications every 30 seconds & can’t see half of them ily guys [sic]’.
One tweeter, Kimberley Hendry wrote: ‘I need to know more! Did the grandkids apologise? What happened to the rest of Paw Paw’s burgers? Is he okay? I need to know’.
The internet became so involved in the family saga that the absent grandchildren started to receive death threats.
Following the outpouring Harmon was forced to tweet: ‘Papaw is ok guys I promise & he loves all grandkids equally, plz stop sending my cousins death threats everything is ok !!!! [sic]’.
And now, in return for the huge outpouring of love and support from strangers around the world, grandfather Harmon has decided to host a cookout Saturday March 26 – and it’s open to everyone.
Grandson Brock Harmon posted the invite Saturday: ‘Papaw would like to formally announce he’s having a cookout . Papaw will be cooking burgers.
Nice to see everything has turned out…well done…almost like the burgers. By the way the burgers will be $2 and there will be t-shirts available to help raise money for GrandPAW’s grandkids that say – I ate a burger with GrandPAW!
So be nice to Grandpa…after all he is the “Internet’s GrandPAW”.
