After three Turkish fighters experienced “lock ons” from Mig-29 jets, reports are out that at least one of the Russian fighters were blasted out of the sky when it violated Tukish airspace.
These reports are still unconfirmed, but both Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and the Russians are keeping mum on the reports which tells you something is up.
Pretty crazy or gutsy move, depending on your point of view – and I’ll bet not sitting too well with our friend Mr. Putin, if the events are true.
From the Express News in the UK:
Eyewitnesses saw a large explosion in Huraytan, northern Syria, while three fighter jets were hovering above.
One journalist tweeted that three Turkish planes were responding to “mysterious” lock-ons from Mig-29 jets, which are used by Putin’s forces.
Witnesses say they saw a large explosion in Huraytan, northern Syria, as three fighter jets flew above.
Attempts to contact both the Turkish government and the Russian military where unsuccessful:
F-16 fighters were scrambled after a MIG-29 twin-engined jet locked radar on Turkish planes near the town of Yayladagi, in Hatay province close to the border with Syria.
Turkish jets then escorted the Soviet-era aircraft back into Syrian airspace.
The incursion followed nearly a week of Russia’s devastating bombing campaign in Syria after President Vladimir Putin declared war on ISIS.

Turkey’s reported action comes after a Russian MIG-29 was escorted back to Syrian airspace by Turkish jets last week. Turkey’s Prime Minister and President have repeatedly warned Russia to avoid Turkish airspace in its campaign in Syria.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Wednesday there will be “no concessions if Russian fighter jets violate Turkey’s airspace.”
So, are you taking notes, President “Red Line” Obama?
This President Tayyip Erdogan may be out of his Turkish mind, but at least he backs up what comes out of his mouth. I suppose if the Russians want to get into a war with another country filled with U.S made military weapons (remember Afghanistan vs. the Soviet Union), they can have at it.
All I know is when the F-16…
… goes up against a MIG
… the results are never good for the MIG.
Yeah, I said it: USA!
