The media continues to try to get Ben Carson to back down from the comments he made last Sunday about not advocating a Muslim to be President of the United States.
While appearing as a guest on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, host Martha Raddatz asked Carson multiple questions on the subject.
In a story from Western Journalism:
“I want to go back to your controversial comments on the possibility of a Muslim president,” she said. “The question seemed quite clear. The question was, should a president’s faith mattered? You said, “I guess it depends on what that faith is.’ The question was, ‘So, do you believe Islam is consistent with the Constitution?’ And you said, ‘No, I do not. I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.’ Do you stand by that now?,” Raddatz wondered.
Carson responded: “Well, first of all, you know what I said is on a transcript and it’s there for anybody to see.”
“I’m reading the transcript Dr. Carson, that’s exactly what you said,” Raddatz interjected.
“Read the paragraph before that. Where I said, anybody, it doesn’t matter what their religious background, if they accept American values and principles and are willing to subjugate their religious beliefs to our Constitution, I have no problem with them. Why do you guys always leave that out, I wonder?,” the candidate questioned.
“I don’t think we do Dr. Carson and it was really quite clear,” she replied. “’I would not advocate we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.’ You also talked about Sharia law, that they must denounce Sharia law. Do you assume that all Muslims embrace Sharia law?”
“What we should be talking about is Islam and the tenets of Islam and where do they come from? They come from Sharia. They come from the Koran,” he told host Martha Raddatz. “They come from, you know, the life works and examples of Muhammad. They come from the fatwas, which is the writings of scholars. You know, and if you go back and you look at — what I would like for somebody to show me is an improved Islamic text that opposes Sharia.”
He added, “If you can show me that, I will begin to alter my thinking on this.”
“But right now, when you have something that is against the rights of women, against the rights of gays, subjugates other religions, and a host of things that are not compatible with our Constitution, why would you take that chance?,” he said.
What does Martha Raddatz NOT get about Dr. Carson’s statements? They seem pretty clear to me. Dr. Carson has a problem with someone who embraces all the doctrines associated with Islam.
Shouldn’t we all agree on that? We do NOT want a president that is against women’s rights, gay rights, or NOT compatible with the Constitution! In otherwords, if there is someone who is unwilling to REJECT Sharia – then he’s NOT for them.
Makes sense to me. I mean why would we want a ruler or dictator who does not reject Sharia Law?
But then of course, the majority of our nation voted TWICE for Obama, Hope and Change, Sanctuary Cities, and all the aftermath and turmoil that, unfortunately, we will still be dealing with long after Obama is out of office.
I’m sorry, but on this topic of embracing ANOTHER candidate that is associated with Islam and Sharia Law, I have to say EMPHATICALLY – NO WAY! Enough is enough! We need to return this country to greatness, to the Constitution, and to Judeo-Christian values. We need to DEFEND our Founding Fathers! We need a real leader….a Cruzader! It is time for Cruz Control!
