There’s a small war going on between Fox News and Donald Trump. Once again The Donald is boycotting Fox News. Here’s The Donald in the first round of a Tweet attack …
Fox struck back …
Fox News said the “boycott” followed its cancellation of an appearance by the outspoken real estate mogul on Bill O’Reilly’s show on Thursday.
“At 11:45 am today, we cancelled Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance on The O’Reilly Factor on Thursday, which resulted in Mr. Trump’s subsequent tweet about his ‘boycott’ of FOX News,” a Fox News spokesperson said in a statement.
“The press predictably jumped to cover his tweet, creating yet another distraction from any real issues that Mr. Trump might be questioned about,” the statement continued.
“When coverage doesn’t go his way, he engages in personal attacks on our anchors and hosts, which has grown stale and tiresome. He doesn’t seem to grasp that candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country,” the spokesperson added.
In case you’ve forgotten, The Donald and Roger Ailes are good friends. Personally, I think they’re both laughing into their champagne because this is mountains of free publicity for both of them.
For Trump, he’s at the top of the polling heap on the Republican side and he’s spent about the same amount of money on his campaign as Scott Walker spent on his ill fated foray into national politics. Maybe less.
So Trump gets free publicity by the hour and Fox gets massive ratings. It’s a win-win. Well, maybe not so much for Republican voters, but certainly for Fox and The Donald.
