Republican Candidate Dwayne Stovall Explains Constitutional Plan to Rein In Supreme Court!
Texas is at it again! Bold Solutions!
From Press Release Monday, September 14, 2015:
Dwayne Stovall, candidate for Texas CD 36, unveiled his plan to use the Constitution to rein in the Supreme Court.
Stovall said: “There isn’t a Texan alive who wants to be told what to do. We value our independence, do not want to be ruled over, and reject the idea of someone telling us how to live our lives.
“Over time, we have allowed the so-called ‘supreme Court’ to become our official rulers, and it is time to put an end to it. In fact, the framers of the Constitution did exactly that when they defined the ‘supreme Court’ in Article III of the Constitution. Notice the small ‘s’ in the word ‘supreme.’ The framers of the federal Constitution never intended, nor did the individual States agree, to have the daily lives of every citizen in every State ruled over by a ‘Supreme Court.’
“In my campaign for Congress, I seek a return to the Constitution, which provided for one supreme Court, and allowed for Congress to manage the existence of federal courts inferior to the supreme Court.
“The Constitution offers the supreme Court original jurisdiction over cases involving Ambassadors, Ministers and Consuls, and cases where a State is party.
“The supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction ‘with such exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.’ This clearly gives Congress the authority to regulate the supreme Court’s involvement in any case other than the three types of cases listed for which they have original jurisdiction. Can Congress remove the supreme Court from the vast majority of issues? Yes, and it must.
“Texas has its own Constitution and Bill of Rights, as do the other 49 States of the Union, but these documents have no meaning if a national ‘Supreme Court’ can claim jurisdiction over every aspect of our lives.
“As a Representative of Congressional District 36, I will push legislation authorized under Article III of the federal Constitution to divest authority from the supreme Court back to the citizens of Texas and back to the citizens of every other State in the Union. When the people understand this constitutional authority and bring pressure on their members of Congress to use it, we can restore the federal system of government chosen by the framers and agreed to by the States. We can stop the growth of this national system.
“We need less DC, and a lot more Texas. It’s time to use constitutional measures to shrink the federal government, and all of the legislation I put forward will work toward that goal.”
Now that is what I call a plan.
Dwayne Stovall is one of the most respected men in Texas conservative circles and now you know why.
We could use a few Dwayne Stovalls in Washington DC.
Brett Rogers, Mr. Stovall’s campaign manager, states it like this: “It’s a brilliant and constitutional approach. It’s part of the reason that, of everyone running in this 2016 cycle, Stovall must win. For everyone helping to make that happen, thank you. His is the best and quickest method to returning power to the people I’ve seen or heard.”
