The global warming / climate change / whatever crowd has been screaming about the oceans warming and polar bears dying off and polar glacers melting and the world coming to an end.
Even the Washington Post is casting a jaundiced eye on the whining of these fools.
Antarctic sea ice has grown to a record large extent for a second straight year, baffling scientists seeking to understand why this ice is expanding rather than shrinking in a warming world.
Maybe, just maybe, sea ice isn’t subject to politics. And there’s always the concept that the “scientists” are simply statisticians looking for cash infusions from politicians.
Don’t let anybody tell you that statisticians are either mathematicians or scientists. They’re not. Math and science both start with information, a logical process is followed to an answer. Statistics is the ART of taking a bunch of data and a preferred answer and then fiddling with the process until you get the answer.
Here’s the sea ice story in a nice graph.
The dark gray line is the average amount of sea ice over the last 30 years. The light blue line is this year, and the light gray area is where 95% of years fall with respect to the coverage of sea ice. Please note that the light blue line is either at the edge of the gray area or above it, meaning significantly more ice is in the sea this year.
A warm year.
You can read the whole article if you have a high tolerance for academic bull sh*t, but here’s the bottom line.
Ultimately, it’s apparent the relationship between ozone depletion, climate warming from greenhouse gases, natural variability, and how Antarctic ice responds is all very complicated.
Very complicated. Just like the weather. Oh, and let’s not forget that not one of the so-called “climate models” that these fools rely on to predict “climate change” has yet to work.
