Houston Mayor Annise Parker was dealt a death blow by the Texas Supreme Court to her bathroom ordinance that allowed men to use women’s restrooms!
The court told her in no uncertain terms to repeal it or put it on the ballot for the people to decide.
The court opinion stated, “The legislative power reserved to the people of Houston is not being honored!”
“If the city council does not repeal the ordinance by August 24, 2015, then by that date the city council must order that the ordinance be put to popular vote during the November 2015 election.”
The court suspended any enforcement of the ordinance.
The ordinance was passed in May of 2014. Mayor Annise Parker refused to allow a repeal vote. She has until Aug 24th to decide whether she will just repeal or allow Houston to vote on it.
Conservative activists had fought for a repeal vote. Mayor Annise Parker refused to allow the vote. She threw out the valid signatures of thousands of voters and said the activists had not obtained enough signatures.
Erik Stanley, Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Legal Counsel, said in a statement. “The scandal began when the city arbitrarily threw out the valid signatures of thousands of voters. The city did this all because it was bent on pushing through its deeply unpopular ordinance at any cost. The Texas Supreme Court has rightly rectified this wrong.”
Also involved in the 2014 insanity was Mayor Annise Parker’s deciding that she would subpoena sermons from local preachers to discourage them from discussing the issue.
After a huge backlash that went national, Annise Parker was forced to withdraw the subpoenas. People from around the country mailed Bibles to her office.
Efforts to create laws allowing men who live as women to use women’s restrooms (or visa-versa), have been popping up all over the country.
In August 2013, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation that allowed public school students to use facilities like showers and bathrooms based on their gender identity.
Strong efforts are being made in California to remedy the insane situation.
The Privacy for All coalition has submitted a ballot initiative called the “Personal Privacy Protection Act.” It would require people to use public facilities according to their biological sex. The coalition is working hard to gather 500,000 signatures by November.
The Houston Mayor that demanded 5 pastors to give her all their sermon outlines, Annise Parker, was told by the Texas Supreme Court told that her bathroom ordinance was unconstitutional and to put it on the ballot…So they wrote Prop 1. They hid the bathroom part in a general civil rights Proposition… to con the Houston voters.
