A serial criminal has been arrested in connection with the ‘senseless’ and ‘cold-blooded’ killing of a sheriff’s deputy who was shot dead during a gas station ambush.

As reported in the

Darren Goforth, a 47-year-old father of two, was pumping fuel into his patrol car at a Chevron station Friday night when a man crept up behind him and opened fire.

Shannon J Miles, 30, who has a long criminal record which includes firearms offenses, was arrested on Friday night and has been charged with capital murder. He is being held in Harris County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

After Goforth fell to the ground, the suspect allegedly kept firing bullets into his body in what colleagues described as a ‘cold-blooded and cowardly’ execution.

No definitive motive has been put forward for the killing – but Harris County sheriff Ron Hickman pointed the finger at the Black Lives Matter protest group for their ‘out of control rhetoric’ against law enforcement.

In a press conference Saturday afternoon, Hickman said that the group had ‘ramped up’ public sentiment against officers like Goforth, helping create the conditions for the attack.

He said: ‘We’ve heard black lives matter, all lives matter – well, cops’ lives matter too. Why don’t we just drop the qualifier and say “lives matter”.’

Local station KTRK reported that Miles was taken into custody around 2:30am after the department was tipped off to a car similar to the killer’s.

Deputies responded to the red pickup truck, a Ford Ranger, and questioned the man, but could not say whether the car was the same one seen in surveillance footage of the attack.

Miles’ mother, who would not given her name, told the station that he had nothing to do with the killing.

She said: ‘My son is innocent. I was in the house with him, so when that happened, my son was home’.

Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said: ‘I’ve been in law enforcement 45 years. I don’t recall another incident this cold-blooded and cowardly. It strikes us all at the heart of public service.’

At the news conference, he said: ‘This is the kind of thing that drives you right down to your soul… this was a cold-blooded execution – how do you protect against that?’

Harris County DA Devon Anderson added: ‘It’s an act of cowardice and brutality the likes of which I’ve never seen.

When is THIS insanity going to stop?! Yes, we get it #BlackLivesMatter! Well, I have to agree with Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman on several points. The rhetoric of #BlackLivesMatter is “out of control.” Here’s an innocent man, Darren Goforth, who was just doing his job, when one day he stops for gas and BAM!  – his life ends! His life as a policeman who was trying to protect and serve his community ends! His life as a father of two very young children ends! This senseless, gutless, horrific, cold-blooded, and cowardly murder ends his life as a young policeman doing his job! Well, guess what? HIS LIFE matters too!

I will end with Sheriff Ron Hickman’s words:

‘We’ve heard black lives matter, all lives matter – well, cops’ lives matter too. Why don’t we just drop the qualifier and say “lives matter”.’

The real test of this will be how many MSM reporters will report on THIS story?

Oh, and I want to just give a shout out to President Obama – Thanks for dividing our country! Hope you are enjoying your destruction, turmoil and chaos that you have caused and supported. Will you be attending Darren Goforth’s funeral? No. Didn’t think so.
