E’Dena Hines, Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter, was murdered in New York City.

The murderer was screaming as he repeatedly stabbed her as though it was an exorcism..

The alleged killer was her boyfriend, Lamar Davenport. No one is reporting his race, so we only know he wasn’t white.

Officers found E’Dena Hines, 33, lying in the middle of W. 162nd St. near St. Nicholas Ave. with several knife wounds to her chest at around 3 a.m., according to authorities.

“Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils, in the name of Jesus Christ! I cast you out!” the 30-year-old man repeatedly said, according to George Hudacko, 65, who saw the attack from his third-floor apartment and called 911.

Davenport was not known to be religious, but he was undergoing mental evaluation at a New York City hospital.

Hines was an actress who had studied at New York University’s graduate acting program and had recently been teaching those in need in Memphis. She returned to New York in April after being cast in an Indie film.

Hines was just getting started with her life and her acting career.

“My dream has come true and it’s just beginning,” she wrote in a blog post on July 7. “Life can make you want to give up or walk away, sometimes it gives you the strength to appreciate when you do get your happy ending.”

Mr. Freeman, please accept our condolences. No one should ever have to bury their child, let alone their grandchild.
