Ferguson Man Who Shot at Cops Was Unarmed! And it was the Cops Fault Anyway.
So there. We reported earlier on the man – an 18 year old black man – who fired on police in Ferguson and was shot and is seriously wounded. It’s beginning to look like we completely misunderstood the story and it’s another case of cops trying murder innocent black men.
First, we have this report, from the young man’s father. A reliable source if there ever was one.
The father of a black 18-year-old who was critically wounded after being shot by Ferguson police calls authorities’ account “a bunch of lies” and says his son was unarmed.
Tyrone Harris Sr. of St. Louis tells The Associated Press that Tyrone Harris Jr. was shot eight to 12 times. Police say he is in critical condition.
The shooting happened late Sunday on the anniversary of the death of Michael Brown, who was fatally shot by a white police officer.
Another innocent young black man. Just like Michael Brown.
Just ask Michael’s dad. You remember him, “Burn this bitch down” Brown.
Today’s story gets even more convoluted. It seems, at least in the eyes of the Organization of Black Struggle, that young Mr. Harris wasn’t at fault even if he is the shooter.
The activist group Organization of Black Struggle defended the actions of Tyrone Harris — the man who opened fire upon and was then shot by police officers in Ferguson, Mo. on Sunday night — by shifting the initial blame back upon the police department.
“It was a poor decision to use plain clothes officers in a protest setting,” Kayla Reid, a field organizer for the group, said on Monday. “It made it difficult for people to identify police officers, which is essential to the safety of community members.”
Go ahead, read that one again. It doesn’t get any less stupid the more you read it. I’m not even going to try to decipher that.
Now then, let’s go back to the police version of events.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar says the suspect was among about six people who fired shots during a protest. Belmar says the suspect spotted a van carrying four plainclothes officers and fired into the windshield. All four officers returned fire.
I’m more than a little skeptical about anything that comes in a statement from a police force. I’m willing to believe them, but I’m skeptical. In this case, I’ll take SLCP Chief Belmar’s version. I think he’s a better source than the current version of Burn It Down Brown or the Marxist “Black Struggle” group.
As long as there are people like this at the front of any kind of black movement that isn’t stoned by the black community, Black Lives Won’t Matter.
Not one little bit. And we’re pretty sure we were right the first time around.
