Last Text Message from Skip Wells to His Girlfriend Will Break Your Heart

We always want our last words to be our sweetest. In a sad twist of fate, Skip Wells was texting his girlfriend that fateful Thursday in Chattanooga, and his last words are absolutely haunting:

Lance Cpl. Squire Wells, who was known as Skip, was swapping text messages Thursday with his girlfriend of two-and-a-half years and was excited that she had booked a flight to visit him in Chattanooga after months apart.

His next two words would be the last she’d ever hear from him.

“ACTIVE SHOOTER,” he wrote.

She thought he was kidding, replying, “You are so weird.”

Then hours of silence.

“I love you,” she tried.

Hours more passed, the news out of Chattanooga becoming clearer.

“Hon, I need you to answer me please,” she wrote.

Rest in peace, LCPL Skip Wells. You are a hero to America. Your tragedy will not be forgotten.
