VIDEO: Here’s a Rare Video of an Incredible Elvis Performance Just a Few Weeks Before He Would Die

This is heartbreaking to watch.. how did it all get so far out of control and no one that claimed to love him every tried to save him?

His struggle was real. Just six weeks before his death, Elvis Presley sat down at the piano in 1977 and did a heartbreaking rendition of “Unchained Melody” for his television special “Elvis in Concert.”

It would be his last concert ever recorded on video.

Performances such as this help to keep Elvis at the forefront of musical memory nearly forty years after his untimely death. In fact, just this week, the King was back in the news as word spread of plans to release Elvis’ very first recording on April 18.

Elvis fans from around the world will also converge on Branson, MO. on March 27-29 for the 9th Annual Branson Elvis Festival, which will include the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, featuring an array of Elvis impersonators performing at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater. The winner of the contest will then travel to the finals, which will be held August 8-16 in Memphis, Tenn. during Elvis Week.
