John Boehner just got taken down for the count by Matt Drudge. The reason? Passing the Obama trade fast-track legislation without making the legislation public. Nobody knows what’s in it.
Boehner – and Mitch McConnell – are both complicit in this outrage.
The bill would severely restrict the U.S. Senate’s ability to influence trade deals by affording just 20 hours of debate on any a trade agreement, and requiring the body to approve or reject the measure without any authority to change it.
Many on both sides of the aisle believe the bill gives too much authority to the executive branch.
Drudge was even angrier about the clandestine way the bill was rammed through the approval process.
Drudge took to Twitter to eviscerate the Speaker.
If there was ever any doubt that the Republican leadership was an integral part of the Obama administration, this should destroy it. Boehner has a primary challenger lined up for 2016, let’s hope this time around JD Winteregg can get the job done.
