We Don’t Need Republicans to Stop the “Deal” With Iran – We’ve Got the Iranians

There’s been all kinds of talk about the Republicans finding a way to stop the Iranian nuclear “deal.”  Thus far they’ve been ineffective.  The best they’ve been able to come up with is a deal that requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate to STOP the deal instead of the Constitutionally required 2/3 vote in the Senate to RATIFY the deal.

It’s beginning to look like there are going to be two options from this point forward and the Republicans aren’t much included in either.

The “deal” keeps getting worse and worse and the Obama administration keeps working to find ways to accommodate Iran’s demands.  All of Iran’s demands are, interestingly enough, things that the Obama groupies have been saying are non-negotiable.

Like recognizing Israel and allowing UN inspectors to make snap inspections of all nuclear sites including military sites.

Oh well.  Israel’s just a country full of Jews who had the audacity to reelect Benjamin Netanyahu after dissed President Obama.  They won’t be missed.

That’s a picture of Fordow.  It’s a military site and it’s their primary site for both nuclear development and centrifuges.

Here’s what the Iranians are saying about those inspections.

International nuclear inspectors will be barred from all Iranian military sites under any deal with world powers, a senior commander in the Revolutionary Guard said Sunday, setting up a possible standoff as negotiators try to reach a final deal.

Gen. Hossein Salami, the Guard’s deputy leader, told Iranian state television that allowing foreign inspection of military sites is tantamount to “selling out,” raising the stakes as talks between Iran and the six-nation group are to resume April 22 in Vienna.

“We will respond with hot lead (bullets) to those who speak of it,” Salami said. “Iran will not become a paradise for spies. We will not roll out the red carpet for the enemy.”

Salami said allowing foreign inspectors to visit a military base would amount to “occupation,” and expose “military and defense secrets.”

“It means humiliating a nation,” Salami added. “They will not even be permitted to inspect the most normal military site in their dreams.”

So, it looks like we’re down to two outcomes with these “negotiations.”

The first outcome is that the deal falls apart because nations other than the US are smart enough to recognize that the deal won’t stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon to match the long range missiles they’ve already got.

The Obama administration will fight tooth and nail to keep that from happening.  After all, Barack Obama’s legacy depends on it.

The second outcome, which we see as likely, is that Obama/Kerry shove the deal through.  They give the Iranians everything they want and agree to overlook the fact that they won’t conform to the reduced requirements of the agreement.  In other words, the Iranians get a bomb and no inspections.

Democrats in the US Senate hail Obama and Kerry as “peacemakers” and patch together 34 votes to stop the deal from going down in flames.

Neville Chamberlain’s deal in Munich cost about 60 million people their lives.  That’s going to be about a week’s casualties if Obama gives this gift to Iran.
