Wonder what’s really going on with Obama’s “Jade Helm” domestic military exercises? When they play Texas, we’re going to get a first-hand look and play-by-play because Texas Governor Greg Abbott is standing up to the Federal Government and has put them on notice:
Governor Abbott has ordered members of the Texas Military to monitor federal troops. In case you’re wondering if he’s gone rogue – he’s not – it’s just that we’re used to Governor’s who all but cower and lick the boots of the Feds, always looking for those Federal tax dollars to balance State shortfalls.
The Posse Comitatus Act, a United States federal law signed on June 18, 1878 by President Hayes, limits the powers of the federal government from using its military to act as domestic law enforcement. Hayes saw the day when the bloated Kings in power might try to run roughshod over the States and this law made Governor’s and Sheriff’s more powerful.
Texas has a tedious relationship at best with Obama, Washington and the Federal agencies. The independent mentality is deeply engrained in Texas society.
The Governor repeated on social media and elsewhere:
“I’ve ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor Jade Helm 15 to safeguard Texans’ constitutional rights, private property & civil liberties”

In a letter to Major General Gerald Betty of the Texas State Guard, Abbott said his order was “to address concerns of Texas citizens.”
“During the training operation, it is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property right and civil liberties will not be infringed,” the governor wrote. “I am directing the Texas State Guard to monitor Operation Jade Helm 15.”
The words Jade Helm have dominated parts of social media for months. How much is there to the worry factor of this incredibly large special training exercise that takes place between July – Sept? How much is false? How much is true? It would not matter.
At the Battle of Gonzales—the first battle of the Texas Revolution against Mexico—a small group of Texans successfully resisted the Mexican forces who had orders to seize their cannon. As a symbol of defiance, the Texans fashioned a flag containing the phrase “come and take it” along with a black star and an image of the cannon.
This was the same message that was sent to the Mexican government when they told the Texans that they had to return their cannon; failure to comply with the Mexicans’ original demands led to the failed attempt by the Mexican military to forcefully take back the cannon.
As always, Governor Abbott held on to the “Come And Take It!” Texan reputation and basically said, “We aren’t accusing, we are just watching.”
The Governor is not new to telling the Feds to “Come and Take it!” While on the campaign trail, he and also then candidate Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller stood face to face as they threatened to take control of 114 miles of Texas land.
“I am about ready to go to the Red River and raise a ‘Come and Take It’ flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas,”
The Governor’s actions took place shortly after Western Journalism publicized a meeting that took place when a group of Texans confronted county and military officials Monday over the controversial Jade Helm 15 exercise, a military operation that’s drawn intense scrutiny from both concerned citizens and conspiracy theorists.
Operation Jade Helm brings the U.S. military’s most elite soldiers to Texas for simulated special operations in a hostile territory.
But the plans for the exercise so far have created fears in many Texans of a future federal occupation.
The operation also includes 6 other western states. Some states are labeled “Hostile” while others are “Friendly” California is “Permissive” or “Friendly” and Texas is “Hostile”…Imagine that!
Whether some of the farthest out conspiracy theories are true or not will remain to be seen. But the federal government has not done anything in recent years to assure the citizens of this country that that they have our best interests.
This within itself is a good question as to why they are “practicing” in a US atmosphere rather than utilizing the many overseas training grounds traditionally used for decades.
