Buzz Feed is a lefty attack site. They’ve apparently got their marching orders to go after Scott Walker.
You know Scott Walker is now the front runner for 2016 because every lefty media outlet in the US is running hit pieces.
Even the Washington Post jumped on the bandwagon.
In the case of the Washington Post the best they could come up with was that Walker quit college in his senior year.
There were no allegations of him being expelled or having drug or alcohol problems, he just quit and got a job and the Washington Post couldn’t figure that out.
Anyway, Buzz Feed picked up a story from a site called Jezebel.
That story accused Walker of cutting $300 million out of the University of Wisconsin budget and eliminating the requirement for the University to report sexual assault.
Here’s the story.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s proposed budget—which would cut $300 million dollars out of the state’s beloved public university system—has a non-fiscal bombshell tucked in between its insane pages.
Under Walker’s budget, universities would no longer have to report the number of sexual assaults that take place on a campus to the Department of Justice. Under Walker’s plan, university employees who witness a sexual assault would no longer have to report it.
There are no policy recommendations in Walker’s budget how or what would replace these reporting mechanisms. The Governor simply instructs that they should be deleted.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the bewildering force that is Scott Walker, know this: he is a small-time guy who is having a big-time moment by playing the conservative werewolf, a role Chris Christie and Jeb Bush are so far unwilling to play in their presidential bids.
As the election cycle drags on you will be able to tick off the boxes on Scott Walker’s CONSERVATIVE STRONG MAN card. Count this as the first of many boxes.
Below is the text from the budget proposal to ‘delete’ the requirements.
Jezebel included the text from the legislation.
Here’s what Buzz Feed did with Jezebel’s red-hot story.
Buried within Gov. Scott Walker’s $68 billion budget proposal for Wisconsin is a gutpunch for advocates for assault victims: provisions to end requirements for colleges and universities to report sexual assaults on campus to state law enforcement.
The shocking language was first discovered by Jezebel on Friday. Walker’s proposed budget stipulates the deletion of “the requirement that any person employed at an institution who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution that the student has been sexually assaulted report the assault to the dean of students.”
Walker also aims to “delete the requirement that each institution report annually to the Department of Justice (DOJ) statistics on sexual assaults” in a bill section on page 508 in a section titled, “Delete Language Related to Sexual Assault Information and Reporting.”
His previously unnoticed attempt to delete the requirement of reporting sexual assault to new students and the state’s Department of Justice may be the governor’s ploy to pick a fight with the federal government.
Wow! Scott Walker, college dropout, obviously is trying to destroy the University of Wisconsin. Why else would he do this?
Well, he might do it because the University of Wisconsin asked him to.
In fact, the University of Wisconsin system requested the deletion of the requirements to get rid of redundancy, as it already provides similar information to the federal government, UW System spokesman Alex Hummel told The Associated Press on Friday.
