To make everything “fair”, no matter the consequences: that is the agenda of Barack Obama. In April of 2009 during an interview with Charlie Gibson, President Obama revealed his true agenda. He said that even knowing that raising taxes does not raise tax revenues, he would like to raise the capital gains tax for “purposes of fairness”.
Wednesday, he condemned Staples and all corporations for being greedy by trying to avoid paying for Obamacare. He does not mention the 85,000 people who are employed by Staples, nor all the corporate taxes paid by them. For Obama, unintended consequences should not be allowed.
That certainly is not fair!
The following quotes of William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister, are as true today as when he wrote them in 1943. They are followed by thoughts about today’s America, wherein we do not abide by Boetcker’s wisdom. Instead we see the agenda of Democrats, just so they can make everything fair.
1) “You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.”
Our government forced banks to give home mortgages to those who had no means with which to pay them back. It was only fair. That led to the housing crash and deep recession. As we learned, homeowners who borrowed more money than they could pay back lost their homes and credit rating and brought down the market for all others.
The plan may have been viewed as fair, but it helped no one and endangered America. Today’s Democrats are considering repeating this mistake, just to make things equal and fair for all.
2) “You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer, nor help the poor man by destroying the rich. ”
In the book Atlas Shrugged the rich went on strike to teach that civilization cannot survive when people are slaves to the government. Without a productive class, there are no jobs, and no revenues to government.
A government program which encourages job growth is far better than a government program which puts more and more people on Welfare.
The golden goose is killed by the punishment of America’s risk takers, the innovators, but in Obama’s world view this is only fair.
3) “You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.”
President Obama has added more to our National Debt in his first two years than all Presidents from Washington through Reagan – combined. He is spending at a rate more than three times that of President Bush. President Obama’s newest budget will force our debt and deficits even higher. This does not make Americans secure.
4) “You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.”
Since President Obama is the epitome of one who incites class hatred at every opportunity, our country is now further divided than in many decades. He has accelerated the hatred between not only the races, but between those who agree with him and those who fundamentally disagree. Anyone who disagrees with his agenda is automatically called a racist. Our country is being diminished by this hatred.
5) “You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.”
A life on Welfare has become a way of life for many Americans, with generations of families expecting government to always take care of them. We should be spending our tax payer dollars in new ways, since we know the policies of the War on Poverty and President Johnson’s Great Society have not reduced poverty in America.
Our government is always seeking more Americans to put on Welfare. A recent Presidential order in three state directs that if 40% of school children in any district qualify for free meals at school, then all students shall get those meals, because we don’t want those who are poor to feel inferior. So we expand the welfare state to those who do not even need it. It is helpful only in bankrupting our government.
Another example: unwed Mothers are empowered by our laws to receive more and more money for every child they produce. This has encouraged fathers to leave their families in order for Welfare to be paid. Families are endangered. This is not fair, is it?
Newly elected Representative Mia Love, an African-American, recently decried the new “slavery” of being dependent on people in power.
President Obama, however, thinks that government programs are in place not to provide equal opportunity, but to make life fair for all Americans. Bring on the income redistribution!
