Mike Bloomberg: 2nd Amendment Doesn’t Apply To … You’ll Be Shocked!

Mike Bloomberg, the funding father of fruitcake groups like Mom’s Demand Action, stepped in it this week.  He was in Aspen, Colorado where the altitude causes oxygen deprivation to the brain and people say stupid things.  To be fair to Aspen, Bloomberg says stupid things at sea level.

He was asked about getting people out of poverty.  As a side note, he didn’t offer to share any of the reported $37 billion of his net worth, and the Curmudgeon is fine with that.  He earned it.  But he’s also a hypocrite.  But then he is a Progressive.

Anyway, here’s the land mine Bloomberg stepped on.

Bloomberg claimed that 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: male, minority and between the ages of 15 and 25. Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive, he said.

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” Bloomberg said. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

So Mayor Bloomberg wants to disarm black males.  Let’s see if that shows up in the New York Times or the Chicago Tribune.

There are two interesting things about this story.

First, Bloomberg actually said something important and, coincidentally, right on the money right after the stupidity quoted above.

At one point, the former mayor brought up New York City’s stop-and-frisk practices, which gained national attention in 2011. Bloomberg said that during his last year in office, a minister at a Baptist church in Harlem invited him to speak.

“While I’m sitting there waiting for him to introduce me, he said to his congregation, ‘You know, if every one of you stopped and frisked your kid before they went out at night, the mayor wouldn’t have to do it,’” Bloomberg said. “And so I knew I was going to be okay with that audience.”

The problem in the black “community” isn’t too many guns.  The problem in the black community is too few families.  There is no “community” in the black community.

The second thing came from a comment on this story at Powerlineblog.  Rosa Parks papers were just published by the Washington Post.  This gem came to mind.

When Rosa Parks was a little girl in rural Alabama, she would stay up at night, keeping watch with her grandfather as he stood guard with a shotgun against marauding members of the Ku Klux Klan.

Klansmen often terrorized black communities in the early 1900s, and Parks’s grandfather, Sylvester Edwards, the son of a white plantation owner, had their house boarded up for protection.

But Parks longed for a showdown.

“I wanted to see him kill a Ku-Kluxer,” the renowned civil rights leader wrote in a brief biographical sketch years later. “He declared that the first to invade our home would surely die.”

See, Mike Bloomberg doesn’t want to take guns from black males, he wants everybody’s guns.  Except “everybody” won’t give up their guns, just the law abiding folks.  Who are then prey for those who aren’t so law abiding.

In summary, Mr. Bloomberg, go to hell.
