The Hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood in Ferguson

Sometimes you come across something so hypocritical that you just have to stop and shake your head over it. You then wonder if anybody else sees the irony involved or if you’re the only one.

Ferguson Grand Jury decision in Michael Brown shootingAn article recently addressed Planned Parenthood’s support for the Ferguson protesters who began demonstrating after a Missouri grand jury issued a no indictment ruling against Officer Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer who killed a young African American, Michael Brown.

Planned Parenthood took to social media to declare that #BlackLivesMatter in a show of solidarity to the cause. Really?

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger, lauded as an American birth control activist, nurse, and sex educator, who opened the first birth control clinic in the United States in 1916. In 1921, Sanger founded the American Birth Control League which later became the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and then on to what is known today as Planned Parenthood.margaret sanger

Sanger was also known for her beliefs about eugenics, the study of or the belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human specifies or human population, by discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics).

Specifically, as eugenics relate to African Americans, immigrants, and indigents, Sanger described them in her book, Pivot of Civilization, as, “…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ‘spawning… human beings who never should have been born.”

Sanger further believed that the ‘genetic makeup of the poor, and minorities, for example was inferior,’ also indicated in her book Pivot of Civilization, by Margaret Sanger, 1922, p. 80

Additionally, in regards to exterminating African Americans, Sanger reportedly said, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”

Even though word has gotten out about Sanger’s beliefs regarding minorities, the early beginnings of Planned Parenthood have been largely ignored.

Former United States Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, in 2009, after receiving Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award, praised Sanger for the work that she had done.

Hillary Clinton said, “I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision.” “I am really in awe of her, there are a lot of lessons we can learn from her life.” Is she referring to those that Sanger felt were inferior and should never have been born?

Then there are revealing statistics that plague those that would have us believe that #BlackLivesMatter to them.

In October 2012, the month of Planned Parenthood’s 96th anniversary, research showed that 79% of Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinics target African Americans and Hispanics by placing their surgical abortion clinics within walking distance of their residences. The information was based upon information gathered from 2010 Census Data tracts.

culbreath (1)“Minority communities are the #1 targets of Planned Parenthood,” says Rev. Arnold Culbreath, Director of Protecting Black Life and a founding member of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition. “It’s no wonder abortion remains the leading cause of death among African Americans, higher than all other causes combined. Getting this information to as many people as possible is not only critical, it’s a matter of life and death for countless babies and oft times even their mothers.”

Bradley Mattes, Executive Director of Life Issues Institute said, “These census results clearly show that Planned Parenthood continues to pursue the eugenics philosophy of its founder, Margaret Sanger, who believed that Blacks and the poor were “unfit” to reproduce. She dedicated her life to controlling the population of these “undesirables” by advancing birth control and sterilization in their neighborhoods. Later, the legalization of abortion gave Planned Parenthood an effective and lucrative means for furthering this eugenics agenda. Although Planned Parenthood denies it, these maps show conclusively that they continue to target minorities for abortion.”

The statistics get worse. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion. On average, 1,876 African American babies are aborted every day in the United States.

They estimate that since 1973, African American women have had approximately 16 million abortions. It has further been estimated that had these abortions not taken place, the African American community would now number approximately 52 million persons, which is approximately 36 percent larger than it is today.

Abortions are the leading cause of death for African Americans, more than other causes, including AIDs, violent crimes, accidents, cancer and heart disease. Some argue that Planned Parenthood is a major player in this tragedy.

So, pardon me if I’m not buying the ‘solidarity’ that Planned Parenthood tweeted out in support of #BlackLivesMatter, based upon its founder’s inappropriate beliefs about minorities and on recent statistics that illustrate the lucrative and targeted business of aborting minority babies.
