Eric Holder must be in mourning over last week’s election results. Or he’s planning some vacation time in a jurisdiction that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US. Or whatever.
A Texas teacher needs him and the full force of his Department of Racial Injustice right now, a Texas teacher! This is a missed opportunity to reinforce that Texas Republicans are conducting a war on women! And, a war on blacks! And a war on teachers! Where is Eric! Heck, where is her union?
All this hullabaloo about a tweet.
Vinita Hegwood, a black English teacher at Duncanville High School in Texas, is going to be fired for her profane and racist tweet referring to the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
Hegwood tweeted, “Who the f–k made you dumb duck a– crackers think I give a squat f–k about your opinions about my opinions RE: #Ferguson? Kill yourselves.”
The black English teacher has apparently been teaching black English to her students.
In Texas, sanity can apparently still be found, even in public schools.
At a press conference Monday, the school stated that it took “swift action and exercised the fullest disciplinary action allowed under district policy… Ms. Hegwood was placed on suspension without pay pending discharge. Under state law, a school district’s Board of Trustees ‘fires’ staff members, and the district will pursue that action with the board soon. In the meantime, the teacher has been placed on suspension without pay, pending discharge.”
Good for the school district. We hope they’ve got good lawyers because they’ll be going to court over this obviously racist and sexist firing.
