CDC Calls for New Ebola Guidelines


The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and Prevention Director Dr. Tom Frieden laid out new guidelines for health care workers when dealing with the deadly Ebola virus including new precautions when taking off personal protective equipment (PPE).

Sneeze into your elbow joint, not your hand. Cover every milimeter of skin. Stay out of contaminated air. Don’t forget to keep your bodily fluids and hands to yourself. Oh, and ritualize the removal of your PPE. We may be dealing with a 21st century relative of Black Death.

The Black Death was terrifyingly, indiscriminately contagious: “the mere touching of the clothes appeared to itself to communicate the malady to the toucher.”–
