President Obama continues to clear the path for al-Qaida’s takeover of Iraq, like the sweeper on a curling team.
To say he’s squandered the opportunities a democratic Iraq could have provided is to be exceptionally lenient.
There is blood on the man’s hands, and he keeps going back for more.
Not only did he essentially abandon Iraq, he has refused to live up to U.S. legal obligations to protect Iraq when it is endangered.
Not only did he release in 2009 the man who has become the leader of the ISIS army that is tearing through Iraq, but he’s publicly assured al-Qaida that they will face no U.S. opposition because Obama will only send in 100 more troops to supplement the handful at the embassy. Now, he’s ruled out airstrikes, even with drones.
He may claim to be a Christian, but Obama’s sympathies are with radical Muslims, as all his policies and actions to date have led to this pass in Iraq and have given aid and comfort to our enemies around the world.
“The tragedy unfolding in Iraq today is only part of the story,” wrote Liz and Dick Cheney in the Wall Street Journal. “Al Qaeda and its affiliates are resurgent across the globe. According to a recent Rand study, between 2010 and 2013, there was a 58% increase in the number of Salafi-jihadist terror groups around the world. During that same period, the number of terrorists doubled.”
It’s been asked many times whether Obama is simply incompetent, insane or outright evil because his policies have been relentlessly aimed at working against America’s interests, at home and abroad.
“Iraq is at risk of falling to a radical Islamic terror group and Mr. Obama is talking climate change,” the Cheneys wrote. “Terrorists take control of more territory and resources than ever before in history, and he goes golfing. He seems blithely unaware, or indifferent to the fact, that a resurgent al Qaeda presents a clear and present danger to the United States of America.”
Obama’s lack of action has angered military veterans as well. Iraq veteran J.R. Salzman tweeted to Obama, “I did not get an arm blown off in Baghdad so you could sit on your ass and watch Iraq fall, @BarackObama. I did my job. DO YOUR JOB.”
That may be part of the problem. The chaos in the Middle East may be the job Obama had in mind all along. Certainly, many of us predicted even before his election that something like this would be the result of his presidency. All the signs were there if you were paying attention.
The interesting question now is, how much did his supporters suspect and when did they believe it? In short, it’s not enough to question Obama’s motives without questioning whether his voters also are incompetent, insane or outright evil.
Even now, with the smoke of chaos caused by Obama rising higher around his Administration at every turn, there are still far too many Americans who defend him, many willfully turning a blind eye to the facts that keep rolling in day to day.
Obama’s followers are just like him. A crisis arises because of his policies, Obama goes golfing or tries to change the topic to something irrelevant, like global warming. His followers either ignore what is happening or they try to turn conversation to how it’s all Bush’s fault, even when their Dear Leader has publicly stated time and again that he is king in all but name and can change any law with a sweep of his pen.
Liberals love to yack about how Republicans are responsible for all the deaths in the Iraq war, but they won’t take any responsibility for what their demagoguery has done in the Middle East. Policies of apology, appeasement and abandonment have led to current events in Iraq, but liberals are still trying to prove themselves intellectually superior despite their utter failures and blood-soaked Birkenstocks.
Only a fool could have led the Middle East to this pass. And as the saying goes, who is more foolish, the fool, or the fool who follows him?
