I love this Bar? Toby Keith goes Wyatt Earp, bans guns

Toby-Keith-PrevThe pro-gun-control Governor-elect of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe doesn’t take office until January 11, 2014. Therefore the state for lovers still allows open carry of firearms without permits and concealed carry with permits in most public places.

But after Toby Keith’s new restaurant in Woolridge, Va. advised of “No Guns Permitted” on its front door, we wonder if Second Amendment advocates will henceforth be able to sing along to the following lyrics of one of Keith’s most famous songs:

We got winners, we got losers
Chain smokers and boozers
And we got yuppies, we got bikers
We got thirsty hitchhikers
And the girls next door dress up like movie stars

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

We got cowboys, we got truckers
Broken-hearted fools and suckers
And we got hustlers, we got fighters
Early birds and all-nighters
And the veterans talk about their battle scars

Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

I love this bar
It’s my kind of place
Just walkin’ through the front door
Puts a big smile on my face
It ain’t too far, come as you are
Hmm, hmm, hmm I love this bar

Music here and lyrics here for “I Love This Bar“.

Of course, besides the Second Amendment there remains the King of One’s Castle Liberty protected by the Constitution, hence:

It may seem counter-intuitive for Keith to take this action, but actually many businesses in pro-gun states do what Keith and, famously, Wyatt Earp did in Tombstone: Try to reserve gunfights for OK Corrals.

It is illegal to consume, just not be under the influence of or drunk, while carrying a concealed weapon. Some bar owners ban guns to avoid the hassle of patrons being frisked and charged with that crime.

Understood and good luck; but maybe they don’t remember the incident a few years ago at Virginia Tech’s gun-free zone?
