The modern “feminist movement” came from the political left. The mantra in the early days was “keep the government out of my womb.” Abortion and birth control were a means of liberation. Women were told they were as free as men and therefore, just as free to sleep around without stigma, which females were encouraged to do. If you get knocked up, you can always just have an abortion – It’s just a “blob of cells” after all. This will empower you, the feminists preached then. The most important thing to women, so say the Left, is abortion and contraception. Anything else pales to these two items.
First of all, I still can’t understand how is it that this same political ideology that wants the “GOP out of their panties” is now demanding that the government become involved in every aspect of a woman’s health. Not just their panties, but the entire line of clothing. Nothing is off limits. So, do they or do they not support the government’s involvement in their wombs?
Women have bought into this sales pitch since the 1960s. What is the result of the culture of “hook ups” and terminated pregnancies?
What women lost in buying into that lie was security. Most women naturally want security and to “couple up” with someone who will cherish them as a partner. But if women are all practicing availability, then what’s a guy have to commit for? The respect that women should demand is decimated by these planks of the liberal cause; look at the women who serve as “role models” in the so-called “entertainment industry.” Look at how girls are encouraged to dress; I call the most recent fashion trend “hooker chic.” Porn is being normalized as mainstream. Women are being sexually exploited more than ever before. What kind of message is that sending to girls about their value as human beings? There is zero logic for anyone defending any of this as “good for women.”
Let’s look at the evidence.
There are more out-of-wedlock births in this country than in all modern history. It is widely known that children born to single mothers are at significantly greater risk of growing up poor. Single mothers often stay in poverty because it inhibits their ability to seek training for a better job. If they do work, the children are raised first in day care and later in highly unsupervised years as teens. This lends itself to many of the youth caught up in such negative circumstances as truancy and gangs. These young people have had the playing field lowered for them from the start because liberal culture encourages bad behaviors from their parents.
And single mothers are significantly more likely to become dependent on government assistance. In fact, many policies encouraged more births because of the lucrative nature of it – more babies, more money from the state. And the state then steps into the role of “father” by providing economic security. An intact family can be a financial liability. And of course, along with the women being encouraged to be sexually promiscuous, the stigma of single parenthood has disintegrated. Boys impregnate girls with no thought or being a parent to the child or a provider for the child’s mother. In a word, single mothers effectually become wards of the state, as does their child.
The left does all that it can to tear down virtuous women. Their obsession is with birth control and abortion. The “enlightened” Hollywood crowd routinely features women singularly as objects of sex. Virtue and virtuous people are torn to pieces by liberals. There are innumerable instances of this.
There is an undeniable and direct correlation between liberal policies and their affects on women. It lends itself to more promiscuity, more sexual dysfunction, more sexually transmitted diseases, more broken relationships, more out-of-wedlock births, more abortions and more poverty. To keep it short, liberal policies have unequivocally caused significantly more female misery. The War on Women is coming from the left and it always has been.
