I am told over and over that the following two folks are important leaders in the Democrat Party; the Party which currently occupies the White House and is thinking seriously about engaging in war against Syria. Listen to what they have said in the past regarding major aspects of this conflict.
“I want to be very clear: If the President takes us to war without Congressional approval, I will call for his impeachment. The Constitution is clear and so am I.
— Joe Biden, 2007
“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members… It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.”
— Hillary Clinton, Oct 8, 2002
Hmm. Am I the only one here thinking that George W. Bush is sitting in his living room in Crawford, Texas, watching the reports on chemical weapons being used in Syria and saying; “No sh*t, Sherlock…”
I’ve heard quite a lot about our current President and his red line and I’m like everyone else – I don’t like seeing children being gassed to death with chemicals. Weapons that can cause mass death and destruction. You know, weapons of mass destruction? Why have I not heard that phrase from any major media news reports, periodicals or wire stories? A better question might be: “Where did Syria get their weapons of mass destruction?” An even better one for a clever journalist to ask someone on the left is; “Does the mass death by means of chemical weapons of mass destruction on the part of Syria vindicate the W. Bush administration?” Then I remembered they’re on the left, too…
But I’m not just offended by this weak President who wants to feel tough now and bomb a few buildings like President Clinton did in 1998 when he lobbed a few cruise missiles into a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan. Okay, okay, it was different because “Clinton needed to look ‘presidential’ for a day” as the late Christopher Hitchens once postulated. The bombing of the aspirin factory came just three days after Clinton finally admitted he was being serviced in the Oval Office by an intern right around his daughter’s age. President Obama doesn’t that as an excuse and I doubt Michelle would be the humiliated doormat Hillary was, but there is plenty to distract from now, isn’t there?
But like I say, I’m not just holding an incompetent, weak, on-the-wrong-side, Barack Obama totally responsible here. Why weren’t these weapons of mass destruction dealt with 10, 15, 20 years ago? George Bush the elder was there with the perfect guy to handle it. He even had the name people don’t f$*k with: General H. Norman Schwarzkop. Oh, I know the U.N. resolution said Bush couldn’t go into Bagdad and root out Hussein and his weapons, but come on – what do they say – It’s easier to apologize later than get permission? Then when it came time for Bill Clinton to do something, he was busy with the fat intern. Then George W. came along, went to all the trouble of invading Iraq and didn’t keep his eye on the Weapons of Destruction ball. All they had to do is secure the border around Iraq and those weapons would have never made it to Syria. I know this is all conjecture on my part, but it’s good conjecture, damnit.
My point is our government doesn’t finish the job anymore. We cave to the press and liberals in Congress. We pussy-foot around and 20 years later, 100’s of thousands of children are being displaced and dying a tortured death by gas in Syria. It’s not Christian-like to not finish the job and leave the hard work to your kids and grandkids. President Obama is weak. He will never make the tough choice as a Commander in Chief because it doesn’t fit his image. Bombing Syria does nothing but make matters worse and embolden our enemies. There should be a red line around the Oval Office which prevents politicians and con-artists from crossing.
