Hate Crime in Virginia

A black minister in Chesterfield County Virginia was the victim of a hate crime.  Some no-account racist painted a racial slur on his house and then set the house on fire.  Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.  Physically injured anyway.

I’m sure the perpetrator of this crime has injured the residents of Chesterfield County and the parishioners of Reverend Cuthrell’s church by his actions.  There is no place for this kind of conduct in the 21st century.

The story made the Washington Post today…

Chesterfield County police had investigated the fires as a possible hate crime because a racial slur had been painted on the house.

Fortunately the police have arrested a perpetrator.

Police charged [the perpetrator] on Tuesday with two felony arson counts.

The fires occurred March 15. One fire was set on the front porch of [Rev. Otis D.] Cuthrell’s house. The other was set in a car.

Cuthrell is a minister of music at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg.

Unless this is the first time you’ve ever read something I’ve written you know I’m a Neanderthal conservative.  That said, I’m appalled by racist acts.  People should be treated as individuals and, as Martin Luther King so eloquently said, “…by the content of their character.”  People who do this stuff should go to jail and the key should be lost.

There is no place for this kind of conduct in our society.  It does nothing more than call attention to an issue – race – that was a real problem 50 years ago, but one that the vast majority of Americans have put behind them.  It’s time to stand up and say “We’re not going to take it anymore!” and inflict the harshest possible penalties on the people who do this.

We see it all too often.  College sports figures go wild and are charged with raping a black woman.  Then there was the black woman professor who found a noose on her office door.  I could go on, but you get the idea.

We have to put a stop to this.  I want the Department of Justice to act.  There must be a federal crime on the books that can put the people who do this kind of thing away for a very long time.  Unfortunately, this Department of Justice won’t do anything because they don’t believe these crimes against humanity are worthy of prosecution.

Why! You say.  They’re obviously racist!  If Becker can figure it out why can’t a bunch of high priced Washington lawyers see it?

Well, as Paul Harvey would say, here’s the rest of the story.

RacistIn the case of the good minister’s house, here’s the perpetrator who’s been arrested and charged with arson…

Yep.  The perp is black.  The perp is also Olander D. Cuthrell, the minister and the owner of the house.

OK, move along, nothing to see here.

Follow the links in the other two crimes and you’ll find the Duke lacrosse team who were falsely accused of rape and the faculty members who were most vocal are still teaching at Duke.

The professor and the noose.  Well, that one turns out to be a hoax too.  Seems the professor was under investigation by the university for plagiarism – it was proved – and she needed to draw attention away from that little problem.  At least the university fired her, but she’s still running around publishing books about racism.  She oughtta know.

Actually, I kind of take heart in crap like this.

When the far left has to resort to creating their own “racist” scenarios, and doing it poorly, we’ve come a long way.
