Five of the 10 women being honored at “The Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award” hail from muslim majority countries. For a Muslim women to stand up for herself, let alone be an activist for women’s rights in that kind of environment is very brave.
Let me explain what I mean when I say that kind of environment:
1) Stoning. Yes, that still happens to this day
2) If a Women is raped, she has to have witnesses, if not, she can be put to death…
3) Islam permits the beating of your own wife, only if she doesn’t do what her husband wants…
4) Honor Killings
Here in America our political parties mostly Liberal Democrats get the media to talk about the “make believe war on women” and really do a dis-service to the very real War on Women that happens in these muslim countries. Which brings me to my point.
Samira Ibrahim… She will be one of the women honored on March 8th by Sec. of State John Kerry and Michelle Obama.
Samira Ibrahim likes to tweet. She like’s to tweet about “Dirty Jews”. She also likes to talk about America, “Today is the anniversary of 9/11. May every year come with America burning.”
The question, your question, my question is why are we honoring her? Talk about a mockery. Kind of like President Obama getting the Nobel Peace prize but won’t answer a simple question of ” Will you use Drones to kill Americans on American soil” hmmm?
Honoring people when they have done great things is important. It raises other people up, gives them hope and something to shoot for. Allowing people like Samira Ibrahim to take part in it belittles the message.
