68923According to the Department of Labor, the number of Americans “not in the labor force” reached a record high in Febraury 2013, with 89,304,000 people not working. That is a shocking number, but not as shocking as when put in context.

United States population (as of 2012 census, numbers grabbed from Google) is 313,914,040. Currently, 89,304,000 people (working age people) are not in the “labor force”. That is just under 1/3 of the Total US population. The current population consists of 124,100,000 people not of working age (0-19 years old and 65+). That means the current population of working age Americans is 189,814,040 people. Of the current working age population, NEARLY HALF are not working! Yay, Obama?
