Trump-Hater Jennifer Lawrence Is Now the Laughing Stock of Hollywood!

0

So, you’ve all heard by now that Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence believes that Hurricane Irma was really nothing more than ‘Mother Nature’s rage’ on all those who voted for Donald Trump for president. Yeah, Ok! Whatever!

As with all other Hollywood liberals who haven’t learned to keep politics out of their jobs, in this case her movies, Jennifer Lawrence may be wishing soon she had just kept her big mouth shut. It seems her new recently released movie, ‘mother’ is not doing so well at the box office. Hmmm!

Ah, Jennifer Lawrence. The “X-Men” and “American Hustle” actress has become one of the most reliable sources of outré invective against anyone who dares disagree with the Hollywood line.

In case you hadn’t been following J-Law’s interesting political worldview, her latest fun little controversy involved saying that Hurricanes Irma and Harvey were the result of “Mother Nature’s rage (and) wrath,” a rather loaded statement considering it came from someone who has previously said Donald Trump becoming president would be “the end of the world.”

Lawrence made the comments while promoting her new film “mother!” (note the lower-case M, which denotes capital-P pretension). Even though the comments weren’t likely to grate on Hollywood types, the pretension (not uncommon in the films of director Darren Aronofsky, who is currently in a relationship with star Lawrence) seemed to get to them. Now, the film is getting some scathing reviews, with one notable reviewer calling it the worst film since the turn of the millennium.

It’s worth noting that “mother!” still has a 68 percent average on Rotten Tomatoes, which means that there were quite a few critics who viewed it favorably. However, that’s lower than most of the films Aronofsky has directed, and several critics have been open with their disdain for the film.

The film, which is heavy on symbolism and light on lucid plot, was highly divisive. Proponents seemed to say that Lawrence’s character, a housewife to a poet played by Javier Bardem who has to deal with unwanted guests, was a metaphor for mother nature or perhaps God. Detractors thought it was pseudo-intellectual nonsense. Rex Reed, writing for the Observer, was the most scathing of the latter category.

This delusional freak show is two hours of pretentious twaddle that tackles religion, paranoia, lust, rebellion, and a thirst for blood in a circus of grotesque debauchery to prove that being a woman requires emotional sacrifice and physical agony at the cost of everything else in life, including life itself,” Reed said of the film. “That may or may not be what Aronofsky had in mind, but it comes as close to a logical interpretation as any of the other lunk-headed ideas I’ve read or heard.”

“Nothing about ‘mother!’ makes one lick of sense as Darren Aronofsky’s corny vision of madness turns more hilarious than scary,” Reed added. “With so much crap around to clog the drain, I hesitate to label it the ‘Worst movie of the year’ when ‘Worst movie of the century’ fits it even better.”

He was far from the only one, however. The Huffington Post also savaged the film.

“At this point I thought I had it all figured out,” Jackie K. Cooper wrote. “Patting myself on the back I saw ‘Mother’ as Mother Earth trying to live with Him, who represented all mankind. The outsiders were the evil acts that have befallen our planet. Was I not the smartest or what! Answer, no I wasn’t because at this point the train jumped the rails … The film runs helter skelter thru a series of unbelievable happenings and they feed into chaos. The end leaves you feeling it was all much ado about nothing.”

“Aronofsky might have thought by flinging paint against a canvas he made a masterpiece. He didn’t. He made a mess,” Cooper concluded.

That mess extended to the film’s box-office totals, as well. According to Variety, the film only made $7.5 million at the box office, by far Lawrence’s lowest opening of her career. It was expected to make in the $12-15 million range, already considered very low. The film also became one of only 12 in modern history to get a CinemaScore of F from audiences. (For comparison, the critically-reviled “The Mummy” got a C+.)

Obviously, Americans are sending you one of two messages. Either you are a joke or ‘mother’ is! OR Americans are sick of Hollywood elitists telling them to bizarre things like “Mother Nature is raging on Trump voters’.

Just shut up and do your job – or continue to be the laughing stock of Hollywood.
