To all of the football fans, living in your fantasy world…Come on MAN! Seriously?! New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady may be one of the best QB’s ever to play the game, but really?! When are these celebrities going to learn to keep their mouths shut when it comes to mixing politics with sports or movies.
Tom Brady may have been ranked #1 QB in Fantasy Football this past week, and he may be one of the great NFL quarterbacks to ever play the game, but to say that he ‘admires’ Colin Kaepernick…that’s disappointing!
In an interview with “CBS This Morning,” New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he wishes former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick would get another shot to play in the NFL.
“I’ve always watched him and admired him, the way that he’s played he was a great young quarterback,” Brady said of the unsigned quarterback, currently without a team.
“He came to our stadium and beat us and took his team to the Super Bowl. He accomplished a lot in the pros as a player. And he’s certainly qualified and I hope he gets a shot.”
Brady’s remarks reignited a debate over whether the unsigned quarterback is being blacklisted over his decision to protest the national anthem or whether it’s his play and attitude that have made teams wary.
While liberal activists have said it’s the former, many within the NFL indicated that it’s the latter. In an interview earlier this month, retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said that his team didn’t sign Kaepernick after a racist meme posted by Kaepernick’s girlfriend which depicted Lewis as a slave and Ravens’ owner Steve Bisciotti as a slave-owner.
“We were talking about giving this kid an opportunity to get back in the National Football League. Look, this is what I wanted to share with people. I have been fighting for this kid behind the table like nobody has … I’ve never been against Colin Kaepernick. But I am against the way he’s done it,” Lewis said, according to CBS Sports.
“Then, his girl (Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend Nessa Diab) goes out and put out this racist gesture and doesn’t know we are in the back office about to try to get this guy signed. Steve Bisciotti has said it himself, ‘How can you crucify Ray Lewis when Ray Lewis is the one calling for Colin Kaepernick?’”
In addition, Kaepernick has reportedly made high salary demands and requested to compete for the starting job, both of which likely limited places where he could sign.
Colin Kaepernick is his OWN first enemy. Yes, Kap has the right to say what he wants in America because our Founding Fathers put in place a wonderful thing called the Constitution and the First Amendment. However, ANYONE who kneels during our National Anthem, is showing disrespect to those veterans and soldiers who fought to defend his rights in the first place.
Brady has the right to say what he wishes too, because of HIS rights, but I l lose a little respect for him when he says he admires a guy who happens to kneel during our national anthem.
The fact of the matter is Kaepernick was an overpaid NFL QB. If Kap was that good he would be playing. In addition, if he kept politics out of the game and just did his job, play football… he wouldn’t be in this situation.
Kneeling for the national anthem is NOT about race, it’s about DISRESPECTING our soldiers. PERIOD. Americans who watch football do not want to watch a game with a QB who kneels in disrespect of our military or flag.
