At a recent appearance, California Senator Diane Feinstein angered her liberal crowd after she dared commit the cardinal sin of showing some faith in President Trump!
“The question is whether he can learn and change,” Feinstein told the crowd at the Commonwealth Club event. “If so, I believe he can be a good president.”
“We’ll have to see if he can forget himself enough and have the type of empathy and direction the country needs,” she said.
The crowd reacted with stunned silence at first! Then they began to boo and hiss! That was followed by some nervous laughter.
Feinstein argued that a strategy of all attack, all the time, wasn’t going to make it easier for her or any other Democrat to accomplish anything in Washington.
“I have to work with people and a punch in the nose is not going to do it,” she said.
Then she gave them the one two punch when she agreed that NAFTA needed to be renegotiated!
Feinstein reminded the crowd that she had voted against NAFTA in 1993, arguing that it would take manufacturing jobs from California and move them to Mexico.
“I believe it should be renegotiated,” she said, making it more fair and more up to date.
Feinstein received a standing ovation from 850 people at the sold-out Herbst Theater when she walked onto the stage for an hour-long “conversation” with former East Bay Rep. Ellen Tauscher.
By the end of the political lovefest, the senator had also shocked the crowd when she declined to say that Trump should be impeached, and warned the audience that they should expect to deal with the developer-turned politician for all four years of his term.
I have said for years, that while I disagree with Senator Feinstein on most issues, I respect who she has become.
She is not a far left nut-job by a long shot. Next to most of California state legislators, you would almost have to call her a conservative.
But she has grown to be, over the decades, intellectually honest.
She is spot on about the President as well. I have done my share of finding fault with Donald Trump. But I have always said that he could really grow into being a great president, if he does it correctly.
My first job out of college was a bank teller. I passed teller training with the highest marks ever in the history of Guarantee Savings. I aced every test, never done before.
I proceeded to make more mistakes than anyone when I went to work. Most were because my fingers were faster than my brain.
After I had been there 6 months, I was the fastest and best teller in the branch, handling 2 customers at a time in the drive up.
When the bank had an outage at the end of the day, my manager came to me always to find it. I was an expert at balancing the branch because I had learned from so many mistakes.
I had become great at what I did, because I learned.
Say what you want about Trump, and I have for sure…
I guarantee that in short time, he can be one of the best. He’s a successful businessman. He will get this.
