Democrat Political Stunt Backfires and it’s Hilarious!

0

Politicians are always chasing the “gotcha” moments. There’s nothing better than cornering your political adversaries and walking away with a solid mic drop. You feel like you made your point and left the other side looking stupid and trying to piece together some BS explanation.

As a voter, it’s super fun to watch.

However, before you try to publicly humiliate someone, you better be on the lookout for the dreaded “comeback.” It’s pretty embarrassing when your mic drop is ruined by an even better one.

So, I bring you this week’s most cringe worthy political stunt fail.

H/T Daily Wire

“In a wonderfully self-righteous political stunt, Florida gubernatorial candidate and former congresswoman Gwen Graham decided to record herself calling the offices of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and post the video on social media.

Sitting next to a campaign aide, Graham called two different lines in an attempt to reach Senator Rubio. After both calls, she left messages for the senator about the Graham-Cassidy health care bill.

Here’s the script for the first call:

GRAHAM: Hi, Senator Rubio, this is Gwen Graham in Florida, and I am calling to implore you to please vote against the Graham-Cassidy bill. I could go through all the reasons, but I think you know them. This is bad for the state of Florida. You are a senator representing the state, and I expect that you will do what is right for the people of Florida. So, I hope you get this message, and I hope that you recognize that now is the time to do what’s right, and to vote against this horrible, horrible bill. And I look forward to watching the floor vote, and am expecting that you will be a “No” vote. If you wish to call me back, please feel free. I know you have my number.

AIDE: Alright, well, why don’t we try some of his Florida offices?

GRAHAM: Maybe we can get through to a real person. That would be nice. In my office, we always had a — made sure that real people answered the phone.

As the adulation poured in from Graham’s fans, Olivia Perez-Cubas, Rubio’s communications director, responded with a killer blow:

Ouch.Perhaps instead of recording herself leaving preening messages on a senator’s voicemail, Graham should be engaging with potential constituents in the recently hurricane-savaged state of Florida.

Nah, that wouldn’t gain her any attention.”

Marco Rubio and his staff have been very active in the recovery effort after Irma devastated much of Florida. I’m pretty sure they have had their hands full and have some different priorities right now. While Marco Rubio is out helping facilitate the recovery, Graham might take note and take a look at her own priorities.

Look, it was a good effort by Graham. I, too, hate when I only get an answering machine when I call to voice my opinion. But perhaps taking a broader look at the priorities of Florida right now would have been a good idea. If Graham were a good politician she would be a bit more attuned to what’s happening in her state right now.
